Looks like just the prelim lists. Loads of those squads have been cut down to 15 or so now.
A couple inaccuracies as well. But good to have it all in one place.

Starting to see that Jamal Murray has replaced TT the marketing material (with CoJo and KO). Hopefully that is a good sign that Murray is committed. Even though TT was used in the marketing material prior to pulling out - it is usually a good sign. TT is the only time I can remember when a guy used in the marketing material has pulled out.

Naz Mitrou Long signs a two way with the Pacers. I was kind of hoping he was going to the EuroLeague.

Stauskas supposedly has offered his services to Real Madrid and Valencia and turned down offers from some of the big Russian clubs.
Didn't sound like Valencia was interested, but supposedly talks with Real Madrid going on.

Wow - just realized the first warm-up game vs Nigeria is 8 days out!

Dillon Brooks' foot looking good.

With all the pullouts the US had, this a real no news is good news deal the closer we get to training camp

Yes, I am also feeling pretty good about the lack of negative news, and about the Brooks news posted by Mojo.

I believe the press release announcing the 29 invitees mentioned that a finalized list would be released before camp opens - so perhaps Friday?

I'm sure the coaching staff will be blown away by Doornekamp

Doornekamp has improved signicantly over the years, working his way up the pyramid in Europe and has turned himself into a half decent EuroLeague 3&D role player. He deserves to be at camp....maybe not on the final roster nowadays, but definitely at camp. He is one of our top 4-6 players outside the NBA. Not even Ejim has made a EuroLeague roster yet. Nor either Scrubb, Heslip, Ruatins etc. Only Pangos, Ennis, Wiltjer (couldn’t stick).

Sounds like Stauskas is now closer to signing with Baskonia rather than Real or Valencia.

And some good news with Tyler Ennis. Supposedly he is in Israel right now working out and doing medicals with Macabi Tel Aviv. If that all checks out they should sign him and he gets another shot at the EuroLeague. Great to hear he has recovered to this point from that freak injury - hopefully no set backs.

The Score with its forecast of who will make the final roster.

https://www.thescore.com/fiba/news/1798818/forecasting-canadas-fiba-world-cup-roster

Joseph
Murray
SGA
Stauskas

Brooks
Barrett

Olynyk
Powell
Birch
Lyles
Ejim
Boucher

No real surprises - picking all the NBA non-rookies, Barrett and Ejim (slotted as a 3rd SF).

Not sure that a 6th big has more utility than a 5th guard.

I’d be thrilled with that turnout and for the group to develop bonds and friendships and memories because that stuff makes it easier for them to come back later.

You weren’t kidding about Doorenkamp. Europe definitely looks like it took his game to another level. Impressive improvement on the perimeter for a big.

Doornekamp is still persona non grata. He could win NBA mvp and he shouldn't be on the team. I hold grudges as well as Andrew Wiggins, don't care.

But more seriously the scores roster is good but pangos needs to be there imo. Definitely over Boucher, that's bo question. Then it's do you take Lyles, who never seemed to make the Denver coaches like him, or heslip. Heslip I's not good as basketball, but his shooting can win you a game so I'd try to find a way to get him there

Bought some tickets to the Nigeria game on the 7th.

There was probably less than 20 seats overall left, which is kind of a welcome surprise even if it meant getting less than great seats.

Should be nice to attend a sold out game as opposed to the usual more than half empty arenas I've seen at the majority of Canada games I've been to.

Guards/Wings are usually the problem for African nations - anyone know their tops guards here?

Only name I half recognize here is Clevin Hannah who is a solid PG, an ACB talent (Andorra) but 5'10. U.S. Born/raised, played at Witchita St and has a long career in Europe (age 31). Played EuroLeauge last year with Gran Carnia where his stats dipped meaningfully compared to the ACB - especially 3pt shooting. Maybe indicative of being too small to find space versus bigger and better players (something Heslip clearly suffers from - and why he shouldnt make this team).

Adama plays for South Carolina St currently (6'1).

No surprise. We have been saying this is likely from the get go.

Honestly we could be better off as it is very questionable if he is a net positive at this high a level.

Barrett is the son of the GM.

Injury is likely just face-saving. There is plenty of time for Barrett down the road. And he is tied into the team.

If Brooks and Stauskas are there and healthy I am good with our SF (or big guard) situation as it is.
