Not sure why all the concern about his defense. He was a good defender in college and his athleticism numbers at the combine were pretty good. His wingspan is ok too.

His defense actually looks quite decent in his highlights. Has sneaky good athleticism too.

The shot is absolutely pure and beautiful too - can't see it not translating, especially with such a high and quick release.

His ceiling will however depend on his ability to put the ball on the floor. Didn't really see much of a dribble game in any of his videos. If he works on his ball handling, then he suddenly becomes a very interesting player.

He doesn't do it much, but seems to have a good handle when he does. He runs the break here just fine.

Also hits a couple of one dribble pull ups in some videos.

If his shooting is as elite as it seems, his handle doesn't have to be elite to beat guys off the dribble. The threat of that shot will have them flying right by and his height will help him get shots off.

I'm hopeful for this kid. The criticism of where we picked him is valid but possibly there was no one to trade down with and this was the guy we wanted. I'd bet Cam has a better career than half the guys picked above him and that a handful of guys picked after him will have a better career than Cam... Thats the draft.

How many Tar Heels games did you watch? I watched the highlights of his two games against Duke yesterday. Of course highlights always look good, but he was playing one of the top teams in the country and had big games both times.

That first Duke game they had no answer for him. He absolutely took whoever was on him to school. Made Reddish and Barrett look silly. He also answered a lot of questions about how he could contribute if his 3 point shot is not falling. IIRC it was the only game of the season he didn’t hit a 3 or he only hit one. Made a complete mockery of Duke that game though regardless.

He did 162/204

The mid rangers and shots at the rim don't count

he kinda worded it weird but meant 3pt shots

The way 2K has been rating guys they like vs. guys they don't, I would have thought his opening rating would be closer to 62.

His college numbers and size are really similar to Mike Miller.

Would be quite pleased having Mike Miller on our team for the next decade...

Which rookie is the best shooter?

1. Tyler Herro, Miami -- 33%

2. Kyle Guy, Sacramento -- 29%

3. Cameron Johnson, Phoenix -- 13%

4. Ty Jerome, Phoenix -- 8%

5. Jordan Poole, Golden State -- 4%

Last year: Trae Young -- 47%

Worth noting: Guy made twice as many 3-pointers (120 at a 43-percent clip) for Virginia last season than Herro did in his one season for Kentucky (60 at 36 percent). Johnson (47 percent) shot better than both of them and the Suns could benefit from having two of the top four players here. Phoenix ranked 29th or 30th in effective field goal percentage from outside the paint in each of the last three seasons.

2014 Doug McDermott 40%
2015 Devin Booker 59%
2016 Buddy Hield 66%
2017 Luke Kennard 49%

Lebron - Zion, Barrett like Melo, wade like Culver, garland like tj ford, hunter like bosh, white like Barbosa, Clarke like David West. I think this draft is actually going to be deeper though

Cam's probably got a chip on his shoulder given the reaction to his selection. Fingers crossed it pays off.

What if the true irony of the McDonough era is that as soon as his successor takes over, rather than whiffing on high picks, the Suns start getting steals at low ones?

If Cam is legit, then this season's going to be a doozy.

Surprised Dylan Windler didn't get any votes. He shot almost 43% on over 7 attempts per game last year...and almost 43% on about 5 attempts per game the previous year.

Herro shot 35% from 3 last year. He is over a 93% FT shooter though.

Though Windler went to a smaller school so probably no one really knows him while Herro went to Kentucky.
