I think Dray saw that he was never going to get a better situation overall, and he accepted less to stay. It's the opposite of LeBron in team building. Security and being there is the first step in leading. Dray wants to be great in every stage of his career and in all parts of the game ... how many teams are going to let him be involved in all parts of the team?

This is close to Harrison Barnes money with the Kings. I need to celebrate this deal with a cold one. Lol

Great signing and a win-win situation. Although it is puzzling why he signed with Klutch; seems any agent could have gotten him that extension.

Is there a single front office that's been as consistently great over the past decade? Bob Myers is elite, and respect to Dray for the loyalty signing.

Maybe he just met Rich Paul somewhere and they kicked it off? Idk people always look for weird motivation, sometimes life is simple.

Maybe the Astros but I don't follow baseball very closely.

The Patriots maybe?

Dubs front office with the low key fantastic offseason. Not only locking up the core but doing it long- term. There’s a lot to be said for stability. We also got a real asset that gives us trade potential and some nice young guys in the draft. Bob Myers really knows how to find that silver lining!

I wonder if Draymond did this deal because he's already been promised a role in the organization after retirement?

Good value and gives us stability now that all the big dogs are locked up. Great job Bobby G.

No, it's done.

I know rookie extensions can have a clause for Rose rule/Supermax if they qualify during the season before the extension takes effect.

You sure it doesn’t apply to vet extensions like this one?

No, the extension is what it is. It can't even contain bonuses, like for making all-NBA, that were not in the original contract. The only extra it could contain would be a signing bonus, up to 15%, payable July 1 of the year the extension takes effect.

EDIT: That's 15% of the entire extension amount.

As long as he doesn’t get fat again.

Now no incentive to try for DPOY again.

Maybe a good tradable contract for bigger fish in a year or two?

By the time this contract runs out, Green will have banked about $200M in salaries alone. I don't think he's too worried about what he'll do after retirement.

Jerry West would have got him for cheaper.

That's not what I mean. What I'm saying is that's it's less about the money and more about securing a long term commitment with an organization that he wants to remain with into the future. If he waits until FA it introduces all sorts of variables that might jeopardize his continued relationship with the org. He's described Bob as his "life coach" and I would not be surprised if he and Bob have already discussed his moving into an FO or coaching position after retirement. By doing this deal now he's putting his money where his mouth is.

Probably a brand building thing. Being associated with LeBron is good for outside business opportunities I’d imagine and it’s possible that Klutch is doing a little imagine cleanup after the AD thing. It’s a rare situation that works for everyone.
