Seeing a player like Luka would make me furious as sixer fan, tf has ben simmons been working on since he entered the league, dude took a year off and still hasn't added to his game.

Lol as a Sixers fan? I don’t follow... The Suns passed over him, the Kings passed over him, and the Hawks traded away his draft rights. The Sixers on the other hand had nothing to do with Doncic.

Ben was the best player from his draft class, so we’re good on that front.

This is what I don't understand. Why do people constantly compare the two? Mavericks and Sixers have mininum ties, Luka and Simmons have no ties besides being two young players. There are other Players in Luka's draft class that are more comparable in my opinion. Every time there's a popular young player, people on this board like to compare him to Simmons. Almost to just get a chance to crap on Simmons and the Sixers it seems.

Well as a Dallas fan, i'm quite happy that he's a mav, but yeah those teams above us shouldn't of skipped on him. Atl got a nice haul tho

Idk how you define polished but Luka was the worse overall player. Regardless, with that logic any team that has a player worse/older than Doncic should be furious. Which is every team

True his max doesn’t kick in until next summer. But regarding position, point forward is typically used to describe forwards that facilitate half court offense without dribbling the ball up the court. Ben is a true PG that can guard 5 positions.

Okay crap joke but in a playoff situation, it's too easy to game-plan against Simmons, he's not even comfortable taking a wide open mid-range jumper on a consistent basis, until he shows that on the floor, which I don't believe he will this season given that he just got paid the max, he's just fine dishing it off, I don't want to speculate, but I want to know WHY?

For now Simmons defense gives him a clear all be it slim edge and I'd expect that to carry forward next year.

I think it will be simmons next year.

I think Doncic might have a bit of second season slump, teething problems with the porzingis partnership (both are going into the season thinking they're the no.1 guy on Mavs) and defenses planning for him a lot more, maybe a bit of over-confidence too.

long run though if you were asking me to nominate an under 23 guy that will win MVPs down the line, I'd pick Doncic, he's championship material.

As for the playoffs/game planning argument, I think he trumped that by being a clear net positive on one of the best playoff teams. People are just mad he didn’t score more, which he didn’t have to playing with Embiid/Butler/Tobias/Redick.

1) I don't know why people keep saying this myth that you are what you guard, it doesn't make sense

Ben has possibly fit a wall if his shooting and overall range hasn't improved. We won't know until the season starts.

Luka most likely will have the better overall numbers but the Mavericks aren't on the 76ers level so his stats should be better.

Luka is the #1 option for Dallas while Ben Simmons is possibly the #2 option for Philly.

I'm sure he's worked on it every offseason since he's been in the league, but I don't see any progress or signs he will shoot, see him in scrimmage videos and he plays the same damn way, it's frustrating.

To your playoff point, yes he is a positive but they had Butler, now they need to be the primary playmaker, and without the jumpshot, he's just mediocre in that role; they need him to step up, and not be a clog in the half-court
