You're dreaming! (but it's a nice dream)
Outside of the sixers, bucks, and pacers the 4-8 seeds are open in the east. I have a hard time believing the heat and raptors are going to be good teams this year i doubt both of teams go to playoffs. Jimmy Butler is going to tick off the wrong people in miami dion waiters, and james johnson if things go bad. Boston is going to have problems on defense with kanter and probably will need a trade for big guy. Magic got to prove there not 1 year wonders and they have question at point guard they don't know if fultz is ever going to become something. Nets are going to have issues with kyrie if he becomes an azz like he was with the celtics last season they also have to pay levert, prince and joe harris next summer.
Don't think the Knicks make the playoffs, but it's true that outside of Sixers and Bucks that the East is wide open.
Here's a list of the remaining teams in order of last seasons record:
Toronto - have to figure they can still be a .500 or better club, but could also blow it up and rebuild. They have proud vets and an up and coming guy. If they don't blow it up, I have them in the playoffs.
Boston - Kemba might actually be an upgrade over Kyrie from a chemistry stand point. But also lost Horford and Rozier. Kanter doesn't nearly make up for that. However, if Brown and/or Tatum take a leap, could be right there at the top. My money is on them as a top 4 seed.
Indy - Have to be honest, haven't paid enough attention to know what moves they made. Assuming with VO coming back that they certainly don't get worse. Playoffs. Likely top 4 seed with BOS, MIL, PHI
Brooklyn - I'm going to assume no KD this year. I'll give them a playoff nod since they did upgrade. But, I don't see them as much better and they need to watch chemistry. Top 6 seed.
Orlando - Trending in right direction. Don't think they regress. Bottom 4 seed.
Detroit - will battle for a bottom seed. Not shocked if they grab it. A lot depends on Griffin's health. I'd but money on getting in, but not overly confident.
Charlotte - Barely missed the playoffs last year. Don't think it's even as close this year. Hopefully Rozier proves me wrong, but I'm thinking another year in the lottery.
Miami - Most likely going to make the leap back in, but a bottom seed. Butler can ruin the team, but he's also really good. Battle it out for a bottom seed.
Washington - if they move Beal, then I'm assuming it's a lost season. If they keep Beal, I think they battle for the 7/8 seed, but fall short. This year's Hornets.
Atlanta - This one really depends on how big a step the young guys make. I also have them battling to get in. Could easily surprise us and be a high seed, more likely a bottom 3 seed if they get in.
Chicago - Another team that could stay in the race. But I see them still falling short. Unless I'm missing why they make the jump from 22 wins to playoffs.
Cleveland - probably the best bet for worst record, barring injury on another team.
Knicks - win total much higher, but never really in the hunt. That is fine. We should just want to see development. Some will say we should tank or that we are in the trap of mediocrity, but we also can't raise losers. Play to win and see where the chips fall.
I realize I have 11 teams that I think make the playoffs. I realize only 8 can. The East is weak at the bottom. There are the ORL and ATL teams where the youth is talented enough to make the leap. Then there is the Miami and Detroit with enough talent that you also expect them to fight. But, the point of this post is that I think the Knicks improve, but playoffs would be a huge surprise.
Narrowing it down to 8: MIL, PHI, IND, BOS, BK, MIA, TOR, ORL. Sorry ATL, one more year. DET will give a fight for 8 seed, but just miss.
Obviously, trades could change everything.

Shows what many have been saying about Melo, if he can't accept a bench role, he's done. IDC what he says on First Take about it, he has to mean it. Vinsanity accepted it and he's going for his final season.

It is actually.
I think it bodes well for him playing later in the games since he can score by getting to the line.

Re: Around the Offseason, Take 2
Trier is a keeper, I feel like he could become a 2-time All-Star later in his career.
His scoring efficiency as a rookie was nuts tbh. He’s also a good FT shooter, which would indicate that he still has upside as a 3-point shooter. If he can learn to be a more willing passer at times, then he might become a modern-day John Starks for us (not comparing his game, just the overachieverness).

agreed. i think of all our young guys trier is the most underrated. because he's slightly undersized and people perceive him as selfish he seems to be overlooked.
and the front office told him to concentrate more on shooting 3s this year so he's been working on it.

It is wacky how much crap Trier has gotten. Even this off-season you've got guys posting they don't like him, see a need for him or even want him on the team or want to trade him.
I don't get it
In the span of 15 months we've seen Perry pick up Trier as an UDFA and draft Mitch and Iggy in the 2nd. This is actually an amazing job. Trier is going to be really good

Yup, as long as trier remains efficient and isn't total trash on D, he's a nice scoring punch off the bench. The guys who were rumored to be annoyed with him were THJ and burke who are gone and were ball hogs themselves, so not exactly surprising. I don't see any chemistry issues between trier and the young guys. He's definitely forgotten by a lot of people when talking about guys developing.

They were also jealous because Trier is better than them
And Trier does play some D. He can improve, but he makes defensive plays those guys never make like his chase-down blocks which he did numerous times

Dont see it. They also lost Morris and Aron Baynes too. They went from one of the best defensive front courts to the probably the worst.

I have to wonder how "huge" Enes's thank you to Miss California really was. Btw, it looks like he may be groping her buttock. Or maybe he's grabbing his own azz?
