This guy Porzingis learned some nice offensive moves from Carmelo. JI can get some of that bag of tricks from a skilled vet. Melvin Frasier slot 15th end of the bench guy being replaced by Melo. We had Mozgov sitting the whole season what do we have to lose? Cancer? Man it's just basketball. He felt he is not wanted in the league anymore I think it made Melo Mellow already. JI needs to learn to be aggresive offensively. He might get a mojo move from Melo. If he is still prima donna I am sure Coach Cliff will just show him the door in a month like what Houston did. For a bench guy playing with a chip on his shoulder we can gamble on that.

There is no car here.

Melo is a one dimensional ball hog who is going to come ‘teach’ our young team how to win.

I can't see any scenario where Melo would accept a simple role of "mentor" and bench guy. He isn't that kind of player.

I understand the hope for him, but it does not seem to be the kind of player that Melo is.

Not sure a team will offer him any role.

LeBron will surely sign him and strong arm Vogel into giving him minutes.

Depends how ready he is and can he give you anything. Let's not fool ourselfs, Magic off bench still have 1 player that can score.
Aminu is career 7,7 ppg player, so we are still Ross or bust when it comes to scoring punch.

He probably won't sign for anybody and he should probably just go to Europe or China where fans will adore him. Typical example of player who's career has been shifted in wrong direction because of wife.

I'm not really inclined either way but Sam Quinn from CBS Sports thinks we are the 2nd best fit for Melo, with TOR as the #1.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nba/carmelo-anthony-free-agency-ranking-all-30-nba-teams-from-best-to-worst-fit-to-sign-the-veteran-forward/ar-AAFnbNK

Here his logic:

2. Orlando Magic: The Magic scored only 101.3 points per 100 possessions when Nikola Vucevic sat last season. That was a decline over nine points per 100 without him, and their only major additions this summer were Al-Farouq Aminu, a defensive specialist, and Chuma Okeke, who is recovering from a torn ACL. Anthony is the only available player who has any chance of helping their offense when Vucevic rests.

I don’t even disagree with you, but here key phrase here is “earlier in his career”.

Melo is 35 years old now and has been really bad each of the last two seasons.

No one should sign him. He’s simply not an effective NBA player anymore.

dang, I didn't realize he was 35. Man, I feel old

We have absolutely no need for any SF that isn’t a potential all-star.

Tore my left-knee meniscus three-weeks ago just walking in the park. I would complain that "getting older sucks." But it beats the alternative (not getting older).

Anyhow: my NBA career aspirations are officially over.

Melo would not have a westbrook effect on guys like ag, or any of our young guys.

He is not at that level anymore and certainly isnt competing like westbrook is.

Most he can do is IF he accepts the role as a mentor to help our young players to develop their offensive game. Teach them post moves, etc. role but even that is a Big IF.

:banghead: Why do I keep opening this thread?

Big NO from Orl but no question in my mind he could contribute significantly to a veteran-laden contender (Like  LAL). The idea that he would be a humble sensitive mentor to our youth while fighting through adversity and happily sitting at the end of the bench is so unthinkable...He's not Vince Carter.

Toronto makes a lot of sense and Sam Quinn actually makes some sense in regards to the *need for Orlando, but this is a move you do mid-season after you know what kind of team you have and are prepping for a strong playoff run not now imo.

If all goes as planned, this is the squad when Vucevic rests.

Fultz
Ross
Iwundu
Aminu
Bamba

Can Melo "overall" provide more production than Iwundu? And then you ask yourself at this point of his career is he even a 3? You're what you can defend right?

I hate to say it, but I think Iwundu as currently constructed is a better option than Melo.
PM me if you can help a brotha finally get an AVI.
