In some ways, but not in the ways that tangibly matter. If you go to an Eagles or Pats game you'll see the truly worst of fandom. Food and drinks thrown at you, non-stop harassment. Go to a Packers game and not only do the fans welcome the out of town opposition, but they break bread and share drinks. In that way I think Packer fans are some of then best in all the major sports.

The way a huge chunk of Packers' Nation handled the Favre/Rodgers transition was flat out embarrassing, starting with the boos and cursing at Rodgers during his first training camp as a starter. I only go to a game at Lambeau every couple years. And every time, without fail, someone tells me to sit down during a high drama situation. I don't stand all game. But I like to get loud on the 3rd down, get-a-stop-and-get-off-the-field situations. I imagine if someone at a Chiefs' game told anyone to sit down they'd get laughed out of the stadium. When a miserable Packers' fan does it, another miserable Packers' fan helps them locate a security guard.

Sure, the tailgating/Title Town district at Lambeau is second-to-none. Everyone is smiling and having a great time at that point. But the number of old, entitled curmudgeons in the stands is staggering. Best fans I've ever been around were Texans fans. Same welcoming tailgating experience outside of the stadium. All business about making a difference for the home team inside of the stadium. Sprinkle in some diversity and it was the most pleasurable experience I've had at an NFL game. Anyway, Magary nails Packers fans per usual.

I regularly go to games and I've never seen or heard anyone telling someone to sit down. Anyone who thinks Lambeau fans are bad needs to go to games in other cities. I have. Many times.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Yeah. I hear this complaint all the time on this board. Never expierenced it and generally go to a game a year

Been to Houston, D.C., and Chicago for Packer games. Lambeau is the only place I've been told to sit down.

What are your thoughts on how Packers Nation handled Favre/Rodgers?

The Packer fans handled it no differently than any other fanbase would. Some were super loyal to Favre, others were more than ready to move on. It's a non-story.

Eh, that exact thing (food and drinks thrown, harassment) has happened to my dad twice at Lambeau. And I've seen it during a UW/Minnesota game too, at UM mind you. "Skol" vs "go pack go" chants broke out and a GB fan tripped a Minny fan going up some steps. Then he tried to play the innocent "we're in a crowd" card.

I concur that a lot of Boston fans are terrible though.

Thats all well and good but doesn't address how Aaron Rodgers was treated ridiculously by a huge section of Packers Nation.

Maybe every fan base splits right down the middle in a similar scenario. Maybe other fan bases/cities take their frustration out on the GM rather than the heir apparent. I think the aww-shucks-simpleton thing Favre had going for him had the blind followers thinking they were buddies or something. And don't get it twisted, Favre is a top-5 all-time favorite athlete of mine. But those particular fans, and boy were there a lot of them, seemed to be personally insulted by even the idea of Aaron Rodgers. For years. Again, embarrassing.

A large chunk? It was a couple of dozen fools at a practice and a few thouseand Family Night. The season ticket holders were ntohing but supportive of Rodgers once the preseason started. Completely unfair to lump an entire fan base off the actions of a very small minority.,

By the way, when you stand up you are blocking the vision of those behind you. much right to watch as you do. It appears you are everything you accuse them of.

They handled it as well as any other fanbase. Outside of a few knuckleheads at practice and the few thousand at family night, They were all supportive of Rodgers and the team. Remember, despite going 6-10, Rodgers got a standing ovation at the end of the final game that year. How many other fan bases ever did that?

I mean it's not exactly a bright spot for the franchise but I dont think theres a franchise in any professional sport that hasnt had a large section of their fan base be dicks to specific players. The coverage in the Favre/Rodgers saga simply made it seem amplified

Every year we as fans will complain about how it was BS that x player was drafted ahead of player y or how player k needs to be off the team or how it sucks that player z was brought in instead of player b. In this very thread people have celebrated a player not being on the team anymore. None of those things are inherently different then the Favre/Rodgers saga in anything other then scale and made more memorable because of the player Rodgers became. If Rodgers had been beat out by Brohm the entire saga would be remembered as a cliff note

Even if you still think it was unbelievably horrible GB is widely regarded as the most welcoming of other teams fans. A few anecdotal testimonies doesnt change that especially when put against other fan bases (cough cough Boston/Philly)

It seems like all NFL fan bases have more mouth breather **** than ever before but it's probably just more noticeable because they have a platform in social media.

Seriously. I wouldn't walk across the street to see the Packers in Lambeau for those prices.

I wouldn't pay that for a regular season game. It's dumb to have the Packers anyways since the Vikings are Manitoba's favorite NFL team. Why would Vikings fans want to go watch the Packers play a preseason game?

I've had multiple people offer me free tickets to go see Packers preseason games and I've never been interested.

$191.50 is asinine.

Right? The only one that might be worth it to go to is the third preseason game and we haven't had a home third preseason game since 2015.
