Of course. If he pans out, we become a major problem to other teams in the east.

Matter of fact go watch shootarounds of any college/ NCAA/ G league players, they can't miss during practice. It's normal.
Best example why empty arena shooting means nothing is Stauskas, who made what? 70 out of 76 threes during summer of 2013? Nik Stauskas shot 35% for 3 in nba and is now out of nba. You can watch tape if you google it.
I would be thrilled if Fultz returns with jumper, but posting this "montage" of him shooting two shots, with third being with left hand really does nothing for me. It's like being exited that Birch can touch net. Like really? That's how low bar is set?

it's gonna be fun in a few months, either you or many of us will be eating a lot of pie. humble pie.
I posted video from last summer on purpose.
it was same old crap like this year, some shaky camera, empty arena ,filmed with nokia 33 10 videos of him shooting just to him returning to nba without jumper.

I think so. Since the last time we saw him on the court the most we have seen from him is some trick shot layups and him bricking an open jumper in a gym while being secretly recorded. All of that was also met with our GM basically coming out and saying he has no idea when he will even play again.
Considering most of us are just praying we even get to see him in uniform this season the bar is quite honestly set pretty low. Seeing him cut down some weight and make open jumpers with good form is enough to get me excited. I can understand why others would be more skeptical though as I have gone back and forth on where we stand with him this summer as well.

i'm going through this and his shooting form in games, especially from mid range didn't look that bad at all.
Threes were akward sometimes ( not in all attemps) but FT shooting was the worst.
at 2:45 and 2:52 mark you have him shooting mid range 2 ( similar to one that was on video above ) and spot up 3
Part of it for me was wondering if he was going to have to drastically change his form due to the shoulder injury. Admittedly, his free throw form was the major concern last season so that will be the thing to look out for in videos or when he plays next season. Hopefully, it has improved.

It doesn't matter. Shooting In an empty gym is inevitable when honing your skills in the off-season. He's at least trying to mimic shooting under preassure.
Furthermore if this were someone like WCS the argument would make sense but in this scenario you're talking about a player who was a legitimate jumpshooter in college, fixing an issue that could bring that aspect of his game back which was part of what made him a tip 3 pick.
People are looking at his form not the ability to make a jumper in a non game scenerio. You don't some how grasp shooting in an empty gym any better than anyone else, it's just that nobody else is focused on that but you.

Fultz is wowing scouts for his ability to “create his own shot”. He’s one of that guy with tons of moves, so to speak. He has great change of pace ability off the pick and roll and should be strong at making difficult shots. In scouts eyes Fultz is therefore being projected as a guaranteed 20 point per game scorer.
However the ability to create your own midrange shot off the dribble is quickly becoming phased out for guards. Valuing Fultz ability to create midrange shots off the dribble is like valuing college Jahlil Okafor’s post moves, it’s not that this doesn’t add value to his career, it’s that you can be good at that and still suck. If all Fultz can do is hit those difficult Kobe shots, it’s not going to still make him some 20 point per game guy, he would more likely be a bust swirling down the Okafor vortex of death.
Therefore it comes down to how well he can score from the efficient part on the floor, 3, rim and FT line. His feel for the game, change of pace, ballhandling, size, ability to recognize space will help him here too. However while he shot 41% from 3, like Brandon Ingram last year I would warn about calling a player who shot 64.9% FT as an elite shooting prospect. I see the best predicting of shooting as a combination as 3P%, 3pt attempt volume and FT% and Fultz on the whole rates as only ok when looking at the bigger picture. Fultz ranked 14th in 3P% in DX top 100 for players with over 1 attempt per 40 minutes, 24th in 3PA/40 and 67th in FT%. From the Celtics perspective this is also dangerous because if Fultz doesn’t have the ability to shoot 3s and play off the ball, his fit with Isaiah Thomas becomes more untenable.

He just can't be a completely unwilling shooter. He has to be willing to take threes/jump shots without hesitation.
People truly dont get this easy concept.
Fultz was compared to James Harden at one point and both carry similar playing styles. We dont need nor realistically expect lights out Fultz, we need a healthy, play-making Fultz and we'll be in GREAT shape.

Could be the break this franchise has been waiting for years. Didn't luck out in the draft all those years (since the Dwight trade), maybe the basketball God's will give us some mercy.spinedoc wrote:His shot looks good to me. He's got a high release point, mostly wrist and not elbow or shoulder. He's not pushing it, nice stroke. I don't see any restriction. So, nothing there regarding pain, or surgery/scar tissue or joint mechanics. That's all I needed to see. The question really is if that bell is going off in his head when it feels right. His legs never had a problem, dude is going to move that defense around very effectively. I'm jacked, we can make a big leap forward if we get some solid consistent pg play.
