A university student union leader is arrested by the police right after he purchase this:
A police speakerperson describes above as a "railgun" in Chinese hence the arrest due to having an assault weapon, while the truth is it is just a "laser pointer".

no impulsive moves like sending in the PLA, rather a slow war if attrition.
Tagging and targeting of protestors in the medium term.
Hope HK can hold on long enough for China to experience political upheavals on the mainland that could loosen their grip

Photo of last night's laser show done by the "not so angry" protesters against the arrest of a leader of Hong Kong Baptist University Student Union, due to buying ten laser pointers as "assault weapon", claimed by police.

Well it highly depends on the usage and the power of laser. But to condemn a person guilty for buying those on the street, while neglecting the white shirt mobs holding onto some long bamboo stick in Yuen Long, is purely based on prejudice.

That was an excellent and truly creative response. It puts them back into the spotlight in a positive "light". Well done

We work in day time, sometimes may go out at night depending on how the police behave, then most of the major protests are in the weekends.

Re: OT: Time claims Hong Kong as the new West Berlin
Tonight is such a long night.
A girl was hit by a bean bag round and severely injured one of her eye balls, which may have permanent damage on the sight.
Police undercover as protesters and suddenly jumped up and arrest the real protesters.
Police shooting tear gas inside a subway station, could be the first time since MTR (ie HK subway) was introduced in 1970s.
Police shooting first aider.
Male Police (yes that is my choice of words) arresting a random lady whom is doing a Facebook live, and harassing her during the arrest and put her to the ground.
Although it seems protesters were also introducing Molotov's cocktail but hey since Police undercovered as protesters as well, who knows whether those cocktails were really thrown by protesters?

Agree that it is a tough strategy to deal with, especially it can be done in one way not the another.
Now people encouraging the work class like us to join a protest in Hong Kong airport with the theme "An eye for an (of that girl's) eye. Hope it will be peaceful.

Harsh but real talk.
You guys in hk seem to think that you are under british rule.
You guys belong to a totalitarian socialist government now. These protests wont end well, the world will do nothing for you. Beijing could put all 7 million of you in maoist gulags and wont bat an eye. Look at what they are doing to the Uighurs.
Dont get this confused, these people so called cheering you on from the comfort of their western homes wont be in a torture cell next to you, they wont be in a gulag with you.
Stop messing with beijing. All you will accomplish by these process is speed up(not slow down) the mainlandification of H.K.

I don't think anyone is here with rose colored glasses. It is clear they want to fight and who are we to tell anyone not to fight for their freedom? All I can do is wish them luck really. I believe they are quite aware of the consequences and have decided to take the risk of resistance.

To Blanko: Yes these youngsters are well assured that they are paying huge cost (freedom, time, future) to go for these fights. It is against dictatorship and some may even realize that Western society may do nothing after all. However people just do not want to lay down and accept defeat, yet. Or just become like the rest of that country called PRC. PRC propaganda is now declaring us as premature terrorists or individualism, bright words and they are trying to scare or fool around their own people. We are so far from that, but hey sometimes self-fulfilling prophecy works.
I know you are saying that out of worries, and thanks for that.
Clyde: Thanks for your continuous support. It is such a huge gamble against the strongest tyranny in the world. They have guns, money and those influence everywhere, that quite a portion of people around my age (I am 36 now) are considering moving to other countries. However it is so against my flavour. This superpower is just everywhere and all over the world. Unless I cut off all my roots, family, friends and everything I have built upon, otherwise there is simply no point doing so. These youngsters and all those people who have come out to demonstration, are giving me power during this time of struggle.
Honestly no idea how it will end, my wife keeps asking me this but I truly don't know.

Thanks man, and seems there will be no planes leaving from the airport after 6pm Hong Kong time. Since there is rumour claiming the police may "take actions", nearly tens of thousand people leaving airport either by train, bus or even by barefoot which closest town is 5km from there.
I am in a safe place though.
