Pangos looked really good. The guy is a talented ball player. Goes to show you just how good you need to be to make the NBA. He actually looked a lot more steady as a ball handler than Cojo but he obviously doesn't have Cojo's size.

I think Nembhard intrigued me the most last night. 8 pts in the 4th, very clutch plays at the end. He also has some good size at 6'4/6'5.

Oh yeah? I missed a chunk of the 4th because my kid was starving......waiting in line at that concession stand..

This is sad. Not sure what else to say, as we don't really have much info, but I'm super disappointed at the NBA guys for not participating. Respect to Kelly and Cory.

I wonder if Boucher had a clash with the coaching staff like Dalembert did. What is with the big guys from Montreal having issues with management? And more importantly where the heck is Andrew Nicholson? :banghead: :banghead: The dude can flat out score.

By the way, for some odd reason not one of you who actually watched the game has posted anything about the actual game itself, i.e. final score, who played well, who didn’t, etc. For those of us that didn’t get a chance to see the game, that would be nice. Thanks

Not a good idea to clash with the coach that's the same coach of the NBA team you are playing for. So I doubt that is the reason.

Anyways, I don't see any good reason for him leaving the team unless its an injury.

Birch is beastly... he was probably the most impressive player last night for me. quick hands defensively...aggressive takes to the cup. Super important player for this squad.

Pangos size is a problem but he is a calming influence on the court.

Wiltjer can just catch and fling that ball up from anywhere really and is basically a tall Heslip. Not sure you need two of these guys on this team but could be fun to see.

andrew nembhard has a poise you don't usually see with 19 year old PG's. If he is wiling to play in the tourny/can I think you have to give him a spot.

To be fair, worse players than Pangos make the league all the time. Raptors just signed one of those.

Great chance for Nembhard to raise his draft stock next year if he has a good showing and makes the team and rotation. He could go into the season with a lot of confidence and help his Gators plus vault him to the first round in next year's draft.

breakdown of score + points + breakdown

Everyone who touched the court was decent except for the Scrubb broes, best and keanne id say. No one really stood out other then birch and Wiltjer with some long 3's. It's a solid high IQ squad which is very evident. Ball movement fairly good. May be the best shooting squad we have ever had.

These guys have barely played together so they were shaking at times just passing and on help rotations but considering some of the talent NIgeria had after the slow start Canada was pretty much in control until Nurse experimented with the end of the bench guys in the 4th. Thats when nigeria came back..Nembard came in and handeled the pressure very well and got trips to the FT. He also hit an extremely tough pull up in the lane to pretty much seal it that was just beyond his years in terms of poise.

Re Nembhard, as noted a few pages ago, UF's fall classes start August 20.

Its one thing to miss the Summer B practices/scrimmages (which are on now), but its another to miss four weeks of the fall semester (classes, team events, etc.)

This isn't a case of a guy not bothering to go to classes in the spring semester of the year he will leave school, b/c at that point it doesn't matter. It is the fall semester, and missing a month of classes could put at risk his academic eligibility for the season.

I assumed he was in camp for some practice run, familiarity with the program etc., and would not be a realistic option for the actual World Cup due to needing to be back on campus.

Thanks for posting that man, I appreciate it! It’s pretty sad when a college player is willing to give more of his time and commitment then multimillionaire 1%ers

Curious to see what happened to Boucher, but generally not a good look if you are trying to get minutes from your Head Coach a few months down the road and you don't show up.

Also, curious Kelly's team tells him he can't play for Team Canada anymore.

Great news!

The game was entertaining from start to finish. Nigeria's intensity to start the game gave Canada trouble (def the high PnR is a weakness).

The out of bounds plays underneath the basket we're a thing of beauty.

Nembhard style of play translates well to FIBA game.

The Toronto Crowd was silent for most of game. (Toronto Sports fans are overrated)

I was fairly impressed considering the two days of practice and the potential quality of Nigeria. They have enough talent to win their group (ARG, RUS, KOR). We could have easily hung a 30 point win on Nigeria last night. We sat the core players with a 20 point lead in the 3rd, while they continued their starters on heavy minutes. Heslip and Wiltjer were hot at the same time though and I am not sure how often that happens. I am still skeptical of both or them at this elevated level.

I think it is near comical at this point with how many guys we are missing and am really bummed at missing very good players like Andrew Nicholson who I am not sure they even tried to get into camp. I wonder how many 2nd tier guys like Conor Morgan, Joel Anthony, Anthony Bennett etc. they didn't even bother to recruit thinking the talent pool was so deep.

Look at this list:
Joel Anthony
Nickeil Alexander-Walker
RJ Barrett (I)
Anthony Bennett
Chris Boucher
Dillon Brooks (I)
Brandon Clarke
Tyler Ennis (I)
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
Mfiondu Kabengele
Trey Lyles
Naz Mitrou-Long
Jamal Murray (I)
Andrew Nicholson
Dwight Powell
Nik Stauskas
Tristan Thompson
Andrew Wiggins

That's 18 guys with NBA experience (or just about to have it). What a difference just a couple of those guys could make.

Caught that Stanley Johnson watched the game courtside last night.

Probably there to chat with Nurse and learn more about his offense. But, that is great commitment. Him and Rondae, two vets are showing up early and being model leaders for Toronto despite only having short-term deals.
