Eh wouldnt call it disrespectful.

Just common logic imo.

No one cares. The players going to play are so far down the list we'd need to double up on alphabet letters. It would be one thing if we were talking about the Olympics when NBA superstars show up.

I copied and pasted the article title and it was in all caps apparently, FYI

Fair enough. It kinda makes me feel worse for Melo.

My inside sources tell me Melo to the Bucks is a conversation that is gaining momentum.

I know US media is still pretending they haven't lost since 2006, but officially that's not true. They lost twice just recently.

That doesnt count.

Nothing to do with Melo but **** Jerry Colangelo. I’m surprised he didn’t get his son some sort of lifetime role with USA basketball yet.

Maybe he should have stopped going for the money his whole career.

I have always as a fan stated two players were overrated even when everyone loved them, Carmelo and Kyrie.

Only difference is Kyrie played with a top three superstar of all time.

Did this really need an all caps thread title?

I feel bad for Melo at this point. I think there are a lot of behind the scenes politics at play now.

Melo spent his career being an overrated cancer that killed coaches, GMs, and teammates. What’s happening to him now is just karma.

If he was still good, I would agree, but what role would he have? He likely wouldn't get minutes and then the discussion will become about how Melo.is not getting minutes. It makes sense to not have him, though it sucks for him.

Why do you feel bad for him? He has had an amazing career. Sure, he hasn't won much, but many great players haven't won much but still go down in history as one of the best players in the NBA, and Melo would be included on this list.

I think it has nothing to do with polictics, and moreso Melo squandering his opportunites the last two season to truly intergrate himself as a player who can play and accept a new role as a role player, which he really hasn't done gracefully, like say, Vince Carter, and the likes of Grant Hill.
Why so serious?

I agree. I don't think it's a slight at all.

He would basically be a sideshow addition, and what would be the point of that? The only reason he would be on there is to provide veteran guidance to the team, and even then, though he has always been respected as a great teammates, he has never really had the reputation of being a good mentor, leader or the most intelligent player, like Jason Kidd and Billups who played a similar role in past USA teams.

I don’t get why people feel bad for Melo or think he deserves a spot. He makes it very clear that he’s a starter and scoffs at the idea of being a role player. He has no leadership qualities and he can’t even score with average efficiency. It’s well documented that he’s been a detriment to his teams over the last few years, so why does he deserve to represent the most stacked country?

Just because he had a few good tournaments with team USA doesn’t mean he gets a lifetime pass.

Do you think Melo would have provided good leadership to some no-name G-leaguers during qualifying matches last year? Not even sure what you're arguing here.

They already lost twice at the FIBA World Cup qualifiers. Even if US media is trying not to count it, because it was with G-League players, it still officially counts as two losses in official tournament games (not friendlies) by senior USA men's team.

I know US media is still pretending they haven't lost since 2006, but officially that's not true. They lost twice just recently.

Why bother being this pedantic other than to be able to say Aha! USA lost? Yes it may be an "official" stat but who's gonna remember?

Wigginstime's original point was that since the US team has 2 official losses, that they could use Melo's leadership.

Well, the team now put together is different from the team that lost 2, so is Melo's leadership still required?

That's the talking point.

I've seen this non-sense mentioned before. Where exactly are you getting it from or are you confusing him with Marcus Camby who literally knocked over team mates to get rebounds?
