Did they already start playing and loose already?

They already lost twice at the FIBA World Cup qualifiers. Even if US media is trying not to count it, because it was with G-League players, it still officially counts as two losses in official tournament games (not friendlies) by senior USA men's team.

I know US media is still pretending they haven't lost since 2006, but officially that's not true. They lost twice just recently.

That doesnt count.

At this point of his career, melo is a 10-15 minute bench player.

Why would anyone want to sign someone who’s an absolute liability on defense and inefficient on offense?

If he was still good, I would agree, but what role would he have? He likely wouldn't get minutes and then the discussion will become about how Melo.is not getting minutes. It makes sense to not have him, though it sucks for him.

I agree. I don't think it's a slight at all.

He would basically be a sideshow addition, and what would be the point of that? The only reason he would be on there is to provide veteran guidance to the team, and even then, though he has always been respected as a great teammates, he has never really had the reputation of being a good mentor, leader or the most intelligent player, like Jason Kidd and Billups who played a similar role in past USA teams.

He’s still a legend and moments like these he can still get in young players ear and offer advice. He might not of been the best leader but I don’t see how he can’t be a good teammate if players constantly say he’s trying to offer advice and help guys work on their game. His bbiq is highly underrated it’s his pride that got in the way but I doubt few can analyze the game like Melo.

At worse you give him ten minutes might give the team a morale boost with everyone dropping out

good, he's played in enough, he shouldn't be given a roster spot over someone more deserving especially the young cats still trying to make a name for themselves

So now don't get all bent out of shape that players do not want to play for this team.

Should they invite Charles Barkley to USA Basketball camp as well?

To the guy who said it was disrespectful to not invite him -

This is a country trying to win a World Championship, not a dinner party. There are a couple hundred superior players who would be disrespected by the USA team selecting an inferior player, despite his excellent pedigree for the national team when he was young and not-terrible.

I've seen this non-sense mentioned before. Where exactly are you getting it from or are you confusing him with Marcus Camby who literally knocked over team mates to get rebounds?

Pretty sure there is a video compilation out there on youtube as well of him doing this (I'm at work and cannot access youtube for you)

Also funny how he threw Westbrook under the bus by suggesting Westbrook steals rebounds (albeit it was a joke)

Melo routinely screams stuff like that when he's going for a rebound. I don't know if he's taking them from his teammates, but it's well known he's very verbally expressive when rebounding.

Carlos Boozer was similar, except he was mostly very enthusiastic about teammates getting rebounds.

I can't believe it.

I actually feel bad for him now.

As much as I detest the guy and his NBA career, he's one of the best USA players ever and I would have gave him a pity spot on a World Cup team.

Eh wouldnt call it disrespectful.

Just common logic imo.

Turning him down isn't disrespectful at all, but publicly commenting about it in this fashion seems like an unnecessary shot.

Carlos and his thoroughly lackluster defense pissed me off routinely, but damned if I didn't laugh out loud a few times a game when he'd screw up, let his guy blow by then miss due to Noah's weak-side challenge, then shout that out like he was helping.

I have always as a fan stated two players were overrated even when everyone loved them, Carmelo and Kyrie.

Only difference is Kyrie played with a top three superstar of all time.

Funny thing is, I could see Kyrie being the next in line to follow the Iverson, Melo way out the league. Guys who scorch the earth on their way out of multiple franchises tend to get this treatment in the end.

We’re kinda seeing it with Dwight Howard now too. Although his case is moreso due to injuries.

Melo is blacklisted bottom line.

The coaching fraternity is having revenge for his time in NYK clashing with no-D'Antoni. That's why Houston picked him up then cut him 10 games into the season. Revenge.

That's wack. Melo is perfect for the national team right now. He's always played good team ball on national teams in the past. Plus to take it a step further and not to be negative, Melo would also be the perfect scapegoat for the coaches if the team has a poor showing.

C'mon, that was then, but this is now. He had his moments to shine. Now, he got kicked to the curb, but doesn't want to admit it .
