I wonder if the Raps are filling Handys and Castle(Outhouse)berrys spots on the coaching staff?
Are Nurses assistants on the National Team potential hires?

We could use Carmelo for offense. I am sure he would be open to play for the Raptors considering no team is offering anything.

He's washed. The only court he should be playing on is in the "Big3" League.

like i just said on the VC thread; i want no part of VC retirement tour. Melos case will be far worse; jersey swaps in every city, media questions and such. Atleast in miami fans had a connection and history with dwane wade and maybe enjoyed it a bit.
i/raps have no such connection with melo and want nothing to do with a retirement tour especially since part of him wanting to play another season is wanting the same tour that wade got; which as an outside i thought was over the top all season.

With Nurse coaching team Canada, I wonder if Masai is keeping Loyds spot open in case Nurse sees someone on an opposing team or the NT that piques his interest.
There’ll probably be a lot of guards to pick from or he could try to recruit whoever plays best/fits need that isn’t signed to an NBA contract.
Ejim could fit the teams Defence and versatility culture but we’re a little heavy on tweener forwards. It’s funny that tweener is no longer a derogatory term and is almost preferred.

I'd take a flyer on Melo.
That second unit needs a bit of a ball hog tbh. I have no doubts that Carmelo can still play in today's nba. Not to mention our system/culture is infectious

We have 19 players under contract not counting Loyd. We need to get down to 17 by training camp....We'll be cutting more players, not signing more.

we can have 20 players through training camp. need to get to 15+2 before season starts. they will for sure sign 1 more players as a as a warm body to tryout for 905/2way/depth etc.

That’s what I was thinking. If a player really impresses during the World Cup, Nurse has a front row seat to the action and may try to convince Masai to bring him in. It’s too early to know because the rosters aren’t finalized but once they are I’ll be taking a deep dive to see who the potential signings could be.
It seems we are lacking a 3rd string point guard(unless you think Payne is one).
There’s 32 teams in the World Cup so someone is going to impress enough to warrant a contract.

Re: 2019 Off-Season: Draft, Trades, and FA Ideas Thread
In terms of our rotation, Melo makes perfect sense, but he'd have to agree to become a Korver style player running off screens and shooting a ton of 3s, I think to be efficient on offense at this point, and my guess is like James Johnson he should probably try to drop 15-20 pounds so he can move easier on defence and then he could help us for 15-20 minutes a night as a backup forward with one of Stanley or RHJ focusing on defending the better forward.
This will sound ridiculous but if you told me Melo had just converted to Islam or was a socialist now or something I'd be more optimistic about this. He seems to be a selfish dude and even though his self-interest now requires humility, for a long time it didn't and it's tough for people to change. The Rockets were a chance for him embrace a new style and role after sucking with the Thunder and instead he seemed to focus on the fact that he was a bench guy (playing like 30 minutes)?
I trust Masai, but my guess is there's a wing we could trade a 2nd rounder for at the deadline who can score a bit if none of McCaw, Stanley or RHJ are able to hit a corner 3 by the end of the year. That's 11M in short-term salary, could turn that and a couple of 2nds into a rotation guy I reckon.

If Masai didn't sign Carter, he definitely ain't signing Carmelo.
One of those players actually has gas in the tank.
