Intriguing hire. Not really sure what to make of it... didn't even realize Hibbert was pursuing a coaching career.

Added as a Player Development Coach. Stepping stone opportunity for him... We'll see how he does.

This caught me by surprise.

While he was playing, I always got the impression that Hibbert was an enigmatic player that coaches had a hard time motivating and getting to lock in.

Maybe they hired him so that Embiid wont be guarded by 5'8 guys during drills.

this is like the last guy i ever thought id see as a coach... didnt seem like he loved the game... will be interested to see how this works out.

My guess is they recognize what a great rim protector he was for a few years and wanted someone to teach Embiid the finer points of it defensive positioning, vertacality, etc...

If Hibbert mastered all that stuff they prob think embiid could absolutely dominate given his advantage athletically.
