I've been wanting to ask this for a while and the right opportunity to bring it up hasn't really presented itself until now... MD, are you a grasshopper?

Regarding diets.. I'm finding the best "diet" is to simply limit food intake in general. I don't think most of us working desk jobs need to eat nearly as much as we're conditioned. I started doing 16/8 or 20/4 intermittent fasting. Eventually it led to basically a 23/1 OMAD. I thought it was crazy at first. My friends into wrestling/mma would argue with me. It was basically my general sense of knowledge vs their arsenal of peer reviewed journals and such. I also did keto for a long time and really shed weight.

It was all a brutal start. I got sick from lack of electrolytes since my body wasn't retaining water. I would get hunger pains a couple times a day but just fought through them. I drank tons and tons of water, and I'll admit that I would drink black coffee or tea all day too, which some consider breaking the fast.

Eventually the pains stopped and I had a noticeable increase in energy throughout the day. Now I hate eating lunch because it makes me lethargic. I lost 70 pounds and I'm trying to maintain or gain a little, so I'm not religious about any of it anymore. I snack on raw vegetables or nuts during the day sometimes. I just try not to eat like creep, but I don't have to stress over the donuts if theyre brought in to the office.

I got to my lowest weight by calorie counting through diet and exercise. An adult male burns 2,500 calories in a day so I would do a roughly 500 calorie run and try to eat around 2,000 calories. Net loss for the day would be 1,000 calories.

With 3,500 calories in a pound of fat, I would burn 1-2 pounds a week depending on how many days of rest for running I took.

I made shakshuka for the first time tonight, and it was fantastic. Lots of recipes online, but I roughly followed the one from NYT. Well received by all and loaded with flavor. Satisfied the vegetarian, picky eater, and carnivore alike.

Simone Biles is kind of amazing.

Also, that's the same shakshuka recipe that we make. It's really good!

Any recommendations in Vancouver? Bars, restaurants, things to do, etc etc.

I tried making this once but it didn’t turn on? Idk how, it’s not too complicated. Sounds so good

I was just there for the first time in May. A very cool place.

Not sure if you're into oysters, but there's a place in Gastown called Rodney's Oyster House. It had some of the best oysters I've ever had. I grew up near the Florida panhandle and this place was just as good if not better than any place down there.

I would definitely go biking around Stanley Park. Capilano Suspension Bridge is super cool as well. I think it was around $40 but well worth it.

I would definitely recommend at least driving up to the Squamish/Whistler area. One of the coolest drives I have ever done.

Also, this is probably a very strange thing to recommend but a friend and I unsuspectingly walked through an area near Gastown known as DTES (downtown east side). It has the worst homeless population in all of Canada by far I think. Apparently like 15% of all overdose calls in Canada come from within like two blocks of that area. It was really an eye opener walking through that place. Unlike most areas like that, I didn't feel threatened or unsafe walking through there. Again, not exactly a "thing to do", but if you want to see something crazy, take a walk through there.

She's OP. She'll have to be nerfed in the next release.

Ohio State is trying to trademark the word "The".

I would say it's worth a shot, but it's really not.

Wisconsin has W, UW, and Wisco trademarked. Just kinda a standard/weird thing.

Whatever, obviously it's stupid but just saw that people have trademarked letters of the alphabet.

Correct. A meme of sorts is video taping people as they scroll through a blue wall of text on their iPhone, usually consisting of them getting yelled at by a gf. This one takes it to a new level.

Is that like commonplace for you?
