Wrong sport

Simmons played both Rugby and Australian Rules football I am led to believe.

Sure a return to his NBA career in general and his career with the Sixers in particular is in order, and I too hope he can develop a jump shot, which would help both him and the Sixers considerably, and don’t understand how he or his family thought he could be an NBA PG without one.

I know it defeats the purpose of the megathread, but can we get a separate thread for the casino incident?

No because that will just spread the infection of these obsessive weird Simmons fans.

I think this is the one sentence in this post everyone on this board can agree with.

I plead guilty to being both a Simmons fan and obsessive, but not to being sufficiently weird as a Simmons fan to actually hate Simmons.

His success for me lies entirely with him sticking with the Sixers who have shown such faith in him, and helping them succeed, which pretty much means a title eventually. If he never gets a jump shot then I doubt he will be able to make a sufficient contribution, and he will always be a flawed player. If he never puts serious effort into trying to get one which having his brother as his shooting coach in his early career does not constitute imo then his character comes into question, but not for fairly irrelevant off court stuff, again imo.

I have always thought, shouldn’t Ben get a new shooting coach for his brother’s sake as well?
Sounds terrible on his resume:
Year 2016-2019, Ben Simmons’ personal shooting coach..... huge red flag for anyone who actually wants to learn how to shoot a basketball.....

the media coverage in australia for ben has become toxic

dude is getting abused on every radio station over the last couple days :noway:

apparently he walked out on an interview when he was asked about the casino(although the interviewer agreed beforehand not to ask him about it, so the interviewer went against his word/wanker) and also left one of his basketball camps early 'allegedly through the back exit so he could play video games????

this is getting into tall poppy syndrome territory.

he made a mistake. but the media is milking every negative thing they can, out of this.

I knew it was bad when Allen Jones put Simmons on blast. This will be spun as “Australia can’t handle an outspoken black athlete”.

Exactly. If anyone was wondering this is what the latter part of this thread has been about. I plead guilty to being a significant part of the irrelevant discussion. Despising and opposing Rupert Murdoch and all who follow his lead/do his bidding is very definitely an agenda for me.

If crown casino really wanted to deny Simmons entry, they could’ve only let him in if he can make an uncontested 3.

There is very little coverage now of Simmons on Australian tv. If you didnt follow basketball you wouldnt know anything about what has happened.

Allan Jones is a shock jock preaching to old woman.

I think I was agreeing with you if you disagree with Alan Jones.

It is a shame players need to adhere to this political correctness BS. Simmons is a worse version of Nick Kyrgios, who doesn't give a **** about improving his game (like Simmons doesn't give a **** about improving his shot) but at least tells it how it is, I love his antics too.

That’s a ridiculous comparison

Kyrgios has admitted to tanking on numerous occasions and some of his behaviour has been disgraceful

Only similarity is that they’re massively talented Australians
