Predict Siakam's Stats This Season
As the defacto first option this year I'm really excited to see how Siakam's game will progress this year. Here is my prediction:
27pts 8rebs 41% 3pt 1blk 4ast
bonafide allstar and superstar
27pts 8rebs 41% 3pt 1blk 4ast
bonafide allstar and superstar

Depends on if he can increase his relatively low free throw rate because the FGAs will be there. The MIP and playoff shine will get Pascal more cred with the refs that's for sure.

Re: Predict Siakam's Stats This Season
Y’all expecting him to increase his PPG and efficiency are really gonna be disappointed most likely.
Probably a 20/7/3 with a dip in efficiency to a 56TS% level with really good defence. It’s Lowry and Gasol I expect to have resurgence a bit with more scoring responsibility

Re: Predict Siakam's Stats This Season
He will not be able to maintain his efficiency.. I expect a 3-4% decline in TS%, that comes along with extra usage. He will attact more duble teams, and as the go to guy will need to force up more shots against tight coverage.

Re: Predict Siakam's Stats This Season
I have no idea. I think the one thing to keep in mind was that even though he had a good playoff run, he was clearly exposed to his weaknesses in the playoffs (as all players usually are).
Either he is able to use that experience to add these things to his game (primarily an ability to pull-up in the mid-range, hit open 3's from above the break) and get to the next level, or if now every team in the league will be ready for him (and be able to focus on him now that Kawhi's gone). Judging by his workout tapes, he'll be ready, but who knows?
I think that Demar's third year is a really good example of how stats can lie a bit. He came into his third season as a better shooter, and a much better ball-handler. But his go-to move (the spin move from his second season) wasn't as efficient because every knew it was coming. I thought Demar was clearly a better player in his third season vs. his second season, but his stats were significantly worse. Heck, that second season was one of his most efficient scoring seasons (in terms of FG%) he ever had, but he wasn't really that good yet.
As wonderful of a player as Siakam is, I think he really benefited from the "easy buckets" this season. He was getting a few fast break passes, and alley-oops every game - it's easier to be a consistent scorer when you're gift-wrapped a few easy buckets every game. That may continue, but it also may not.
I felt like we really saw Pascal improve A LOT in the post-season. From figuring out Isaac, getting shut down by Embiid and kind of figuring that out, to finding ways to score against the Bucks & Warriors. His effeciency was worse than in the regular season, but he was able to add things to his game on the fly - I was so incredibly impressed by that.
I have a feeling that Siakam will really improve this year, but it might not reflect it in his stats as much as we think.

If he's going to be the first option, you can pretty well guarantee a drop in his percentages across the board.

He averaged 19/6.5/3.8 with a .632 TS% in 22 games post all star break last year. Now with the role of our go to scorer you're expecting him to average just a single point more?
I'm figuring 23/7.5/4. With a slight dip in efficiency.
