Nash or Chris Paul should have been over Iverson.

I question posters age or love affair with advanced stats if they're seriously questioning Nash over Iverson for a 2000s decade team. You have to have been under a rock with Patrick if you don't remember how good and influential Iverson was in the 2000s

Wade would probably put Iverson on the team himself.

Behind Kobe and Lebron?

Overall the choices are solid, although going out of their way to take shooting guard AI over Nash at point is just them catering to fans.

Allen Iverson is a Legend all right,it's just that he's not as much a Point Guard as a Combo SG undersized Marvel of a player.
(Plus he played his peak years at the 2 with Eric Snow as his Starting Point Guard)

I’ve long said Lebron is the heir apparent to Eric Snow.

(Btw he played his most efficient season as point guard. Larry brown didn’t exactly run a modern offense)

Would like to see the 2000's team as:

PG - CP3
SG - Kobe
SF - LeBron
PF - Dirk
C- Shaq

I think this roster would have an insane balance of offense, defense, shot creation, and shooting. No disrespect to Tim Duncan, but really he's a center that got listed as a PF since he originally played next to David Robinson. And he doesn't provide the spacing that a modern stretch 4 does on offense.

I'd go with AD over DHo

Way more versatile offense and brings at least 80% of the D and rebounding of prime DHo. AD looking to have way more peak seasons too when all is said and done.

I'd MUCH rather do Nash or CP3 over AI. Nash and CP3 are vastly superior shooters and passers which makes a helluva lot more sense on a team utterly loaded with talent. CP3 brings more D as well, but i can accept the argument to not put him in over Nash due to not turning in enough peak seasons, although pre-injury CP3 was a **** lightning beast.

Nash is a 2 time MVP. Iverson was more popular but it's basically like comparing Vince Carter to Dirk.

1980s:Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Moses Malone, Kevin McHale

1990s: John Stockton, Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Karl Malone, Hakeem Olajuwon

2000s: Allen Iverson, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Tim Duncan, Shaquille O'Neal

2010s:Steph Curry, James Harden, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Dwight Howard

1990s is the most well-rounded on both ends at every position, and has the two most dynamic, athletic, two-way players with size - Jordan and Hakeem.

Playoffs:

R1: 80s vs. 90s -- W: 90s.. 90s Jordan slows down 80s Jordan and proves to be more crafty, Pippen contains Magic, Moses and Karl battle to the end, basically nulling each other, and Hakeem gets the better of McHale in a back and forth. Bird goes off, but it doesn't matter.

R1: 2000s vs. 2010s -- 2000s.. Duncan destroys Durant and shuts down the paint with Shaq, forces him into jumpers primarily with help on drives, and Howard is overwhelmed by Shaq.. Kobe and LeBron take turns on Harden and Curry.. post ups, aggressive drives, and tough defense. Traps. People who may think prime Duncan couldn't handle Durant, just didn't really see him play, and/or underrate his athleticism and overall mobility + length + smarts on defense.

Finals:

90s vs. 2000s -- W: 90s... Jordan dominates Kobe, Pippen and Jordan take care of the backcourt defensively with Hakeem and Pippen around the paint helping. Stockton gets Iverson off his game and makes him work and think defensively too much. Pippen contains LeBron.. too much toughness, length, persistence, and smarts.. forces LBJ into too many jumpers while the lane is shut off by Hakeem with Pippen funneling. Duncan and Malone have big series, good back and forth, contrasting games. Hakeem gets the better of Shaq, with Shaq having some moments.

Series winner: 1990s in 6.

Allen Iverson over Steve Nash is borderline criminal.

Again Barkley and Nash don't allow their likeness to be used which is the only reason they are probably not on some of those teams. And I love Scottie Pippen but Grant Hill's 5 seasons in the 90s are really really good. Its a toss-up for me.

Dallas Nash was better Iverson, let alone Phoenix Nash. Nash also was a force for the whole decade, was an all star/all NBA 3rd caliber player early in the decade with the Mavs, and an MVP caliber player with the Suns. Iverson was a non factor from 2008-2010, so Nash has him beat not only in terms of quality of play, but longevity too. Nash aside, Paul and Kidd would have been better choices over Iverson too.

Nash ended up agreeing with 2K after negotiations.
They have his rights and he is part of the Suns teams.

Barkley still refuses to sign unless they pay (something with charity i remember him saying on Inside the NBA)

You mentioned Garnett and i remembered the All-Star game that had a Western line-up of

PG-Jason Kidd
SG-Kobe Bryant
SF-Kevin Garnett
PF-Tim Duncan
C-Shaquille O'Neal

Good times

Iverson won an MVP. Led a finals team that took the only win off the 2001 Lakers. Was your favorite players favorite player growing up. Is one of the most iconic figures of modern basketball. Orders of magnitude more popular than Nash and laps him in "legendary" nba moments.

Yeah, there's no question on a "legends" team, Steve Nash has no business whatsoever over Iverson.
