Re: Future Draft Games
Just spitballing here, but what about a game where you only have a predetermined number of all-star appearances to use for your team? So for example Steph Curry would cost 6 appearances. We could discuss time period and what the limit for appearances would be. Still have the 85 FGA limit too.
Thoughts?

We did that earlier this year.

Goober suggested expanding season, but start from 2019 and work backward. Too soon?

A few that have been kicked around
Left handed players
White boys
Speed limit draft: Last four picks must have a minimum of 45 FGAs
Most Franchises Played For https://www.basketball-reference.com/leaders/most_franchises.html
Second best franchise (players could not be used with the franchise where they reached their peak - so draft Boston KG, Orlando Shaq, etc

Poking around a little, I think a trade pair game could be good. You draft two players at a time but they had to be involved in the same trade.

Re: Future Draft Games
We could do a draft similar to this one but with teammates, with a 1MVP rule. 4 rounds, another quickie

Did one, but we could always do a redux?

Re: Future Draft Games
How about an expanding FGA draft, similar to the expanding seasons? The first pick is limited to maybe 3 FGAs, and it goes up gradually to 24 or something?

The draft order would need to be different than ABBA though because the people in the middle will get shafted.
I was actually thinking of something like the random divisions/team draft but with either increasing or decreasing team pool.
Let's say you start with 16 teams or 2-3 divisions chosen at random and then go down each round.
Round 1: 16 Teams chosen at random
Round 2: 14 Teams chosen at random
Round 3: 12 Teams chosen at random
...
Round 8: 2 Teams chosen at random

Are we ready for another random game this soon? I'll let others chime in on it.
For the increasing FGAs I meant it would rise gradually throughout the draft, not in one round. Like go up 0.2 FGAs or so each pick so the first pick of the draft is like 3 and gradually rises to 24 or so by the last pick of the draft.

Isn't that the case with the bench players included as well though? MVP 1st round and going top down is obviously a better strategy than bottom up. I guess it's fine though cause the strategy is how fast you go down
Maybe allowed to go up five.
I think 3 is ok. There should be enough room to up once if someone starts in the middle
.eg
16
18
15
12
10
7
4
1
I also assume at least one person tries to go from the bottom and stack the low FGA guys
You want to start some version of this? Looks like we're at a lull.

Re: Future Draft Games
How about a four round draft where you are limited to 22 FGAs with each pick? You can select one, two, or three players each round.
On edit, we could also incorporate Fade's idea of a longer bench option and allow people to draft up to 10 players.

I like it. Even Magic doesn't represent a huge advantage with that restriction.
The only downside is that a handful of players can't be picked in their peak seasons. MJ is basically out altogether.

We could stipulate no FGA limit on a round if you choose just one player.

I might also suggest limiting this to one occasion only per drafter.

You mean one team drafting two players who are over 22 FGAs? I can only think of one, maybe two players beyond Mike and they'd be putting themselves in a bind FGA-wise. The team limit of 85 should still apply.
And to play up the bench twist - only require 8 players play 8 minutes? You could sit guys or even play them less than 8 minutes if you draft a ninth or tenth - so long as you have at least 8 players playing 8 minutes. You could plug guys in depending on the match-up.

OK, I didn't realise you were sticking to the 85 FGA rule. And yeah, there isn't much point requiring a minutes minimum for the ninth or tenth player.
