Lefteris Mantzoukas

I've been watching some of the European Under-16 Championship. From the games I have seen, this Italian player, Davide Casarin really looks good for his age. The Greek player Lefteris Mantzoukas looks really, really nice also.

You can add Wembanyama/A. Traore for France, Niagu for Russia, Bona for Turkey, Ivisic Brothers for Croatia. mb Radovanovic for Serbs but he has been disappointing. Mostly frontcourt prospects.

Lefteris Mantzoukas breaks ANGT single game scoring record
18/JAN/20 12:56

A game to remember for 16-year-old Lefteris Mantzoukas at Munich, Germany.

By Eurohoops Team/ info@eurohoops.net

Lefteris Mantzoukas set a new Euroleague Basketball Next Generation Tournament single game scoring record on Saturday with 49 points to his name.

His 49 points boosted by 7/12 twos and 5/12 threes saw him [take] over the previous single game scoring record of 43 points set by Dragan Bender back in 2014.

Aside [from] the scoring bonanza, the young Greek forward gathered 19 rebounds, dished one assist, made three interceptions and earned 14 fouls. His 65 PIR ranks third all-time in the competition behind Bender’s 66 and Nikola Mirotic’s 84.

He's so good in The League and The Good Place.
I was right about 3 point shooting. I expect to be right about Tacko Fall. Some coach will figure out how to use Tacko Fall. This movement towards undersized centers will sweep ng back. Back to the basket scorers will return to the NBA.

Nikola Mirotic had a PIR of 84, and Bender with 66? Holly crap, that must be pretty bad competition tho.

Of course it's weak competition, because it's under-18 level. It's the top under-18 club competition in Europe - so it's basically the club version of the FIBA under-18 European championship. So yeah, weak competition, because it's high school age, but nonetheless worthy of note, because it's the highest high school competition level in Europe.

Mantzoukas signed with the Greek EuroLeague club Panathinaikos. But he can't join the team this season, due to Greek Federation rules.

The sports authority in Greece overruled their basketball federation and approved him being eligible to play this year. So now Mantzoukas can finish this season playing with Panathinaikos.
