And the latest craziness: A court order was needed... to get the Trump admin to provide hygiene products to migrant facilities - and this was from an Appeals Court!!! Yes, our courts are more over-burdened than ever with a case like this because the Trump Administration decided they had to fight this in court... because they refused to provide hygiene products... can't... make... this... up.

Don't disagree with much of that - except that I think the CBO is OVER estimating the revenue - especially long-term. Don't put a program on the back of a tax source that won't be there.

One thing that could happen is that retail providers could anticipate a decrease in frequency and jack up their rates. If trades costs doubled, it could seriously impact liquidity.

The fact that our President goes to the leader of Israel to get him to ban 2 Americans from going to Israel - strictly because they are political rivals of his... this has gone so far past the point of absurdity... How do people not understand this? Do people not care because it falls below countless other idiocies and pettinesses that he's done and said? Hey, as long as he's not risking lives or committing treason this time...?

Not just 2 Americans, 2 members of Congress.

Recent FOX News poll of head to head Trump vs each of the top 4ish Dems,
Biden, Warren, Sanders, and Harris, has Trump failing to break 40% against
any of them And losing to all of them. If you're a Pub, at least you can say the
election isn't for 15 months. Still not very encouraging for them I would think.

Weird to me that Krugman is tweeting his confusion that something so insignificant as tariffs on manufactured goods could have any real effect on the US economy. Dude, remember this whole globalism idea? China is *heavily* dependent on manufacturing. Trump's idiotic trade war hurts China, which hurts the world economy, which hurts *us.* I thought the nobel prize winning economists were supposed to be the ones explaining unintended consequences to everybody.

Otherwise I like Krugman and think his economics are good. But come on man.

Didn’t he characterize internet commerce as a passing fad (maybe I’m not remembering correctly). If smart people always got it right, we wouldn’t need as many.

If we're really going into a recession the next election is going to be a BLOODBATH for the GOP. Again, can't believe I'm rooting for a recession.

On the one hand it's kind of disappointing that after all this protesting and investigating and prosecuting none of it matters, just the economy. I wanna feel like my utter ruination of Nate and his ilk on this board was good for *something.*

On the other hand it'd be delicious irony that this recession that will torch the GOP is at least somewhat self inflicted.

scaramucci said that trump won't run if he's convinced he'd lose, which i do agree with in theory. i just don't think his narcissistic self will allow for him to arrive at that conclusion

I mean, you've squeezed all the blood you possibly can from this rock. You have your tax cut for the rich, you have your two activist SCOTUS picks. The smart thing to do at this point is cast him aside. If you're going to get crushed because of the recession *anyway*, might as well excise that boil sooner rather than later. People could pretend the GOP aren't racist again. "See, we realized our mistake! We're better now!"

Someone will subtly present it to Trump as a selfless decision, a self-imposed term limit by a non-career politician who only reluctantly entered the fray only to right the ship. People will be eating that **** up!

That and a fat check to start a TV network where he can whine all he wants and get paid for it.

Of course I am sure it will meet the same fate as: Trump Casinos, Trump Airlines, Trump Steaks and Trump U. However he would never realize that in advance.

not that it makes an inch of difference but what a wasteful selling of souls for the GOP to bootlick trump for the past 2 years and not even getting a second term out of it.

I'm counting on GOP shortsightedness. All that matters is clinging desperately to power. The future doesn't matter.

Although they are the ones playing the long game with stuffing the judiciary with activist judges, decimating the voters rights act and enacting voter suppression measures anywhere. And inviting foreign countries to help undemocratize the elections. Maybe they figure they've cheated enough that it doesn't matter anymore how evil people think they are. The main goal is to destroy democracy as soon as possible - if the country wins a battle here and there, and for example elects a black President, retrench and try again.

Trump needs to run for a second term. It’s the only thing keeping him from serving jail time. His only hope is to run out the statute of limitations on his crimes.
