Re: WOJ: Julius Randle 3/63M (Team Option)
Phil needed to go and kp made it happen. Skipping the exit meeting was good for us.
A lot of you make this all too personal. I’m not mad at kp. I don’t care about anything but basketball. It was a risk to max him because of health concerns and if he was really a 1st option offensive player. It can go either way but the knicks played it safe. I can’t really complain about that.

His face up game is a ton of fun to watch, especially in space from the 3PT line. Putting 4 shooters around him should have produce some potent offensive lineups.
Kanter is a bruiser with minimal skill. Kanter talking about Randle is proof yet again of his self inflated worth.

RJ will learn a lot from Randle some of whose game he will probably emulate fairly closely

It does seem inevitable (looking back now) that he was on his way out, but on the other hand, would he really have taken the QO with the Knicks? I doubt it, if he took the Max with Dallas. I'm glad we didn't "have to" Max him out.

it wasn't all about the qo, the knicks weren't really sure they wanted him. that's kind of obvious. it's probably why he went in there to ask for a trade to begin with.

Do the Knicks have 4 shooters to put around him?
Portis\Morris\Randle up front
Ellington\?
I guess if Payton or Smith Jr pick up their shooting. Maybe Trier?
Iggy and Dotson.
Maybe RJ sees an uptick in shooting.
I think there's about 6 guys to pick from. Not pure shooters, but some good shooters in there.

Randle is not Shawn Kemp but he’s not Charles Oakley either. He has a good finishing dunk or his body and arms are long enough. He can extend off the bounce. Not sure how strong his jump is from a still/close/standing position.

Re: WOJ: Julius Randle 3/63M (Team Option)
Picking Randle up gives me the feel of when the Nets traded for Russell in a way, we are giving a guy that has shown some promise the platform to take off although this seems safer based on Randles production.
But imagine if the lakers waited they would have some pretty good home grown talent.
Randle
Ingram
(4th Pick)
Russell
Ball
Hart

Probably
Randle
Morris
Knox
Dotson
Ellington
I hope they play around with 5 man lineups. Oh wait, this is Fiz. He’ll have 10,000 different iterations before November, whether a 5 man lineup works or not.

I think it was more the Knicks wanted him back on the court and Janis didn't want to take the risk and the two sides had to figure out if they trusted each other. And the answer was no.

He’s less than a year older than KP and KP can’t go 1 on 1 like that, or handle or pass like that either.

KP could definitely do it against the YMCA players Randle was running against in that video

Can somebody pull up a work out video from last season of a random player that played well in the summer but had a trash season?
I know somebody has to come to mind. Lol
