Did you actually watch the video? Or do you believe he is not intelligent because of the little you know of him, or because you don't buy what he is selling?

I actually think there were things that he said which were quite interesting. And that's really all I could get out of it, because unlike us fans, even though his time in the NBA circle was brief, he still has the insight into the league that so few people get to experience. Now whether you buy into what he says or believes in, that's a different question all together. He didn't come across as an unintelligent person to me.

This guy got cut due to his inability to get on planes because he suffered from anxiety. Now he wants to act like he told the NBA to kick rocks. Someone needs to tell Royce that he's not the Malcolm X of basketball. He is just a man that failed to take advantage of all of the resources available to him to conquer, or at least cope with, his own demons.

Although I agree with the premise that the current Mental Health Policy is insufficient, several things he said left me questioning his true intent. Frankly, he came off as a self-righteous jackass that made bold, unsubstantiated claims out of extreme disdain toward the NBA because he's not in the league.

The Conspiracy According to Royce White
-The NBA blackballed him out of the league under the guise he was afraid to fly airplanes because he blew the whistle on the lack of a comprehensive mental health policy in the NBA.

Other Claims Made By Royce White
-He's the "realest" athlete speaking on social issues since Muhammad Ali.
-The NBA wouldn't accept his recommendations to address mental health issues within the league because, according to him and only him, the NBA claimed athletes would fake mental illness to receive additional monetary support from the NBA.
-David Stern's a racist.
-Michele Roberts is the token black woman selected by "the man" to pacify the issues facing [predominately black] NBA players because she's the "mother they never had".
-Carmelo should be in the league simply because he's better than Jared Dudley.
-Kevin Love was selected by “his masters” to serve as the "white knight" on mental health issues. Also, fans are gullible for not seeing through the NBA's propping up of Love to "whitewash" their sins. **Note, there was no mention of DeMar in this regard**
-Despite his extreme disdain towards the NBA, he believes he's the "perfect fit" for today's modern era and wants to play, but, the NBA has to "meet his contractual demands" regarding mental health first. :roll:

I also agree with some of the other things he touched on; particularly, the NBA's lack of a robust substance abuse policy and how it played a major role towards the Malace In The Palace. Outside of that, his rant sounded like a lot of social issue chest-pounding and crap conspiracies.

Two things that stood out for me

1. How in the hell did Dudley get a roster spot before Melo? Maybe he’s suppose to be another coach but you have Rondo.

2. Kevin Love becoming the face of mental health. We have seen plenty of players struggle in this area over the years but are usually labeled “headcase” or “distractions”. There probably should be a deeper commitment to putting value into the mental health of the players. Even more so if the league wants players to come straight out of high school and make millions to be mature professionals at the higher levels let’s make sure they are fully prepared
