Gotta find time to listen to his project this weekend. He’s been killing everything I see him in so I have to see what’s he’s talking about on the album.

Edit: Fire debut

Lost Tapes 2 is a disaster imo. Not even close to the first one.

It's not supposed to be. Listen to it again it's solid.
The first one was around the time of his 2 and 3rd albums with some new verses.

This one is at least 10 years old with songs and verses up to his previous album.

Lyrically I think he kills it, production was cool. Only issue was some of the singing and hooks on some of the songs.

What don't you like about it?

A lot more. He said in an interview that just because he is not putting out albums it doesn't mean he is not recording. He is also finished with Def Jam after this album and his future stuff will be on his label so we can expect more albums in the future. Also said that the next Lost Tapes might be all features.

I didn't mean to say that I expected it to be anything like volume 1, but The Lost Tapes 1 was a classic album on its own. Lost Tapes 2 to me is flat-out boring. Most beats suck (RZA's especially) and Nas's delivery and content leave a lot to be desired imo. His lyricism has gotten a little basic, and his charisma/presence is declining faster than Melo's NBA career. His flow is just aight. Again, this is my subjective opinion.

The only song I truly love is "It Never Ends". The rest is just blah to me.

I thought it was solid, one of his best albums in a while. What was the last album he put out that you liked? Lyrically there are not too many people on his level.

The last Nas album I truly loved was God's Son. I loved Hip-Hop Is Dead aside from a few songs, so I guess you can that's the last Nas album that I liked. His lyricism has fallen off a cliff imo, aside from a few verses here and there like his guest verse on "Powers That Be" a couple years ago. The second half of Nas's rap career has been a absolute disaster imo. Maybe I feel that way because the first 10 to 12 years set such a high standard and he was by faaaar my favorite MC back in the day. Now? I'd rather listen to Rick Ross, however blasphemous that may sound.

Not your typical grimy NY hip hop, but E-40's new album is great. Been a big fan since 93. Probably my #1?
