Josh Gordon reinstated, can play week one. Him and Harry will be hell for other teams on the outside.

Not really a Boston thing, but I can't believe that an NHL team is retiring Roberto Luongo's number in March.
Brings back memories of 2011, where the Bruins were gifted the Stanley Cup by a coach who refused to bench Luongo during road games. Luongo played fairly well at home that offseason, but he was horrid on the road for some reason, especially so in the Stanley Cup finals. In three games in Boston, the guy allowed 15 goals off of 66 shot attempts. His backup, Cory Schneider, saved 39 of 41 shots in relief of Luongo that series.

Hope you didn't jinx it. I'm going to be on pins and needles all season hoping he won't go back to his addiction..if he did it would truly be the end for him in the NFL.

Agreed, Hopefully he gets some help.
I think that you can knock it down to a Misdemeanor, if you get treatment.

I love these Sox unis. Change the black background to navy blue, add a little bit of red somewhere, and wear these year round IMO.

The Sox fired Dombrowski!
I don't like it. Overreactionary, screams scapegoat, and IMO many players will have that impression regardless of whether it is true. I know he didn't make a move for bullpen help, but with Darwinzon's emergence and Eovaldi's return they could'a made it work. They just didn't.
I can't help but feel that the White House trip was a source of more tension than it was given credit for.

Re: General Boston Sports Thread, Phase 2
i'm usually not a fan of in-season shakeups, but i think this one was necessary.
after the sale and eovaldi fiascos, do you really trust DD to handle the betts, JBJ, and ERod negotiations? we're going to be paying for DD's mistakes for years, after we just got over cherington's.
another factor is the draft. DD has never been a draft guy. but we need young arms besides darwinzon hernandez, and restock the position player pipeline as well. DD isn't the man for this.
the groundwork for these things are being laid now. the sooner we can get a guy more in line with the sox long-term philosophy the better. the only thing i don't like is this GM-by-committee thing, reeks of "bullpen day", but i'm sure that's temporary.
i'm also sure we'll also start getting leaks soon about some event(s) that precipitated this, in the usual sox way of giving people an extra kick in the ass as they go out the door.

Re: General Boston Sports Thread, Phase 2
I wouldn't call the Sale fiasco a fiasco. Despite this season, he is still one of the most dominant pitchers in the game, and he has helped us win one World Series thus far.
Now Eovaldi, career journeyman type approaching 30, his contract was steep and is up for scrutiny.
But they cut DD loose as soon as we appeared eliminated from the playoffs. That doesn't say to anyone "we wanted to move in a new direction," instead it screams "we didn't make the playoffs, and someone needs to take the blame."

Dolphins players are already asking to be traded. They may as well just forfeit next week. Should be utter destruction down at Miami on Sunday.

Re: General Boston Sports Thread, Phase 2
The DD thing had to do more with behind the scenes issues. The organization also grew incredibly frustrated with how he repeatedly shunned analytics despite being talked to numerous times. This was a difference of view with respect to how the team should be run and was a long time coming.
FWIW, this isnt me speculating, just telling you all some behind the scenes facts.
