Yeah I agree, Pop don't want to look as if he's favoring his own players, though to some degree he is by preparing him for Spurs training camp.

I just went to boxing event. I walked around the dome. Picked out our seats. I truly believe that they were better than my buddy that was ring side. He paid lot more. Plus I had us next to exit. We were eating and drinking beer before my buddy left the building. Little planning can go long way.

6 C's in the fiba world cup, that will make them ready for training camp. Could have been 8 if Kanter was allowed, and Semi played for his country.

Tacko Fall chose to focus on making the C's roster in camp otherwise make that 9.

Semi is an American in every way. He was born and raised in Kansas.

As great as these highlights are....I think I’m more excited that Marcus was name a team captain along with Kemba and Mitchell.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

I imagine he'd be welcome to play for his ancestral country, just like a lot of other guys are. Chris Kaman, for example, got dual German citizenship so he could play for their team even though his most recent German ancestors were great grandparents. But especially in this politically fraught era, I wouldn't call an African-American "African" or "Nigerian" until I knew he'd used the term first (if then), and I certainly wouldn't call Nigeria "his country".

Or perhaps if Hayward had let it be known that he was interested?

Multiple Celtic fan posters: I don't think Smart should be named captain of the Celtics, he's not mature or good enough.

Greg Popovich: Names Smart one of the 3 captains for team USA, despite not yet playing.

That's about right.

Whoever is doing the press for Smart needs a big raise.

If he had any "leadership" qualities then the Celtics of last season would not have been the disgrace they were, not only did he not help but he was a big part of causing the turmoil.

Maybe this is the NFL, he is a Defensive Captain. D Mitchell would be the Offensive Captain. Hopefully K Walker doesn't follow their brick chucking example, and in this game he did shoot a lot but it never looked like he was shooting a lot.

All the teams were bad quality in the game. Turner was certainly playing well. Tatum, a lot better to see him as a shooting guard. Do you want Darius Garland guarding him or Larry Nance? Passing, hitting 3s, shooting over a short player, that Tatum led his team in assists is good for the Celtics but bad for Team USA.

good chance the toxicity that surrounds Brown/Smart/Tatum somehow hypnotized Pop into insanity

Even accounting for it being the dead zone of the NBA offseason, utterly embarrassing that the #1 topic for the past two months on a Celtics message board was people criticizing Smart, with a focus on his leadership, of all things.

Just preposterous, and such complete fail on a fundamental level.

Oh well.

I had a chance to watch full game. Didn’t see too many negative plays from any of our guys.

Donovan Mitchell did not impress me too much. Forced a lot of shots and turned the ball over a multiple times when trapped.

JB looked really good. I think he’s going to have a breakout season.

At least pop liked my idea if making smart captain. Another exhibition well played. I don't understand the love for white nor do I feel he has done enough to warrant him even being there. But other than that I'm stoked this is happening with our players.

As a first gen African American, the overwhelming majority are very proud of their roots. Obviously, we don't like when the words "African (particular annoying because it doesn't acknowledge a specific country)" or "Nigerian" are used to make us seem other/foreign (or perpetuate African stereotypes). And we also don't like (as you pointed out) when we're made to feel like this country somehow isn't wholly ours.

But for your future reference, we love talking about our heritage and where our family is from! And we also appreciate your empathy!

Hayward actually let it be known earlier this offseason that he wasnt interested.
