Both trades were fine. I didn’t like Stevenson going out in the Sanchez deal though. Don’t really think much of Fischer but Sanchez isn’t much himself either

Yeah I think Atkins is getting too much flack for the trade deadline. Teams are not trading top prospects anymore. Atkins was able to get a breakout candidate before he officially had a coming out party (SWR), and took a chance on a former top prospect who had no room on the Astros (Fisher). For the latter they gave up one of the worst starters in baseball this year, a middle reliever, and 23 year old in A ball with no power. If Stevenson turns into something and Fisher flops then maybe we can look back with some regret but I don't think it was as bad as many people thought at the time.
Teams are not trading Gleyber Torres types anymore. I think Atkins did pretty well all things considered. Should have still gotten another piece from the Mets, even a low minors hit or miss type, but whatever. It's better than a bunch of back end 40 man roster depth he got in the previous trade deadline.

Another good start.
8 ER in 23.1 innings.. 26 Ks, 7 walks and 1 HR as a Jay. 3.09 ERA now. I remind you, the only 18 year old in high A ball.
Anthony Kay: 7 ER in 26.2 innings. 31 Ks, 17 walks, and 2 HRs. 2.26 ERA

It's always tricky to gauge pitcher development, because you can get a long way on stuff in the lower minors.
But if you're 18 and getting by on stuff in high A, you have pretty serious stuff.

Numbers in minors have been deceiving because great pitchers have been getting lit up, whether it be to the juiced balls, or the way the game is played, but SWR def looks like he’s as good as we could hope for, and with Stro looking like we sold right before his breakdown, it’s a great return, even if the potential never hits.

Lol, it’s late August and we have already been eliminated from the playoffs. In year four of this disaster.
Glad you are enjoying my posts. More than I am enjoying this car crash of a front office.

I don’t understand. 4 years ago we had Josh Donaldson, Stroman, Sanchez etc etc. All the guys Ratul wanted us to have this season. We were rebuilding?

Hell, on this date three years ago we were tied atop the AL East, and we ended up making the ALCS.

Loved Double A's team. Huge mistake we have made in hiring. 2015 team was the stuff of dreams.

Same guys on the 2016 team. Using your "we're in the 4th year blah blah blah".

Anthony Kay is on his way to becoming a member of the ever-growing club that includes former Mets prospects who might one day come back to haunt the organization.

Stroman isnt going to like this.
Considering the bevy of rumors linking Marcus Stroman to the Yankees before July’s trade deadline, it wasn’t a surprise rebuilding Toronto sent the right-hander to New York during the summer. It was, however, unexpected that Stroman ended up with the Mets instead of the Yankees. It turns out the Yankees’ interest in Stroman – although real – wasn’t especially high, general manager Brian Cashman reveals to Yahoo Sports’ Wallace Matthews in an interesting piece profiling the longtime executive.
“We were interested in Stroman but we didn’t think he would be a difference-maker,”Cashman said. “We felt he would be in our bullpen in the postseason.”
Stroman isnt going to like this.
Despite Stroman’s successful track record, his remaining year and a half of affordable team control and the Yankees’ apparent need for starters, they held firm when the Jays “were demanding” outfielder Clint Frazier in a package for the hurler...

This FO really loves their mediocre outfielders.
Anyways, of course Stroman would be starting for the Yankees in the playoffs. Who's Cashman trying to fool?

Paxton/Tanaka/German/Severino would be the rotation they were counting on for the playoffs. With Sabathia and Happ as long-men already in the bullpen. Obviously you can't count on the health of all those guys. And it might be a bight hyperbolic to say Stroman woudl be in the bullpen. But if things went to plan, Stroman would only have been a marginal improvement for the rotation. Hard to count on German slapping his girlfriend, which is the reason they could really use Stroman right now.
