Re: Around the League Discussion - 2018-2019 (Playoffs)
I’m not impressed by someone putting up 18 ppg in a terrible offense and not doing anything else. Like MCW scored whatever he scored his rookie year, Okafor did the same. It’s a long game, someone has to score points.
Green has an established track of being a good role player. He had the top RPM among shooting guards last year. You give him a role and he’ll be productive in it. I don’t see what Kuzma’s role is on a good team.

There seems to be a growing sentiment among Celtics fans that Tacko Fall is some kind of hidden gem that they've stumbled upon.
I just don't get it. Every fanbase has delusional optimism regarding prospects on their team, but this one is hard to understand.

I think Lakers third best player is Kuzma. But Kuzma is so weak that Green and maybe even D12 has a case for being their 3rd best player.
Kuzma’s 18ppg is as empty as it gets.

If the only thing Tacko Fall can do is make life a little difficult for Giannis or even Embiid he will have a place in the league for the foreseeable future imo. If he is not completely exploited in the pnr and become a bit useful offensively he might even get paid.

How's he going to do that, though? Giannis and Joel take great joy in facing up and embarrassing big stiffs that can't move with blow by drives. Can you imagine Tacko Fall on one of Joel's eurostep drives?
The only reason Boban can play in the few matchups that he can is because of his skill level and footwork.
Tacko Fall is virtually skill-less and has cinderblocks as feet. He'll be the biggest switch liability in the NBA the moment he steps on a court.

I will not pretend to have done much research on Fall but from the little i have seen he is reasonably quick for his size.
People say Giannis is long but Fall is like 6-7 inches taller and a foot longer. If he gives him some space it is going to be hard for Giannis to drive and finish over that length. He is not going to stop Giannis on the break but if he can reduce him to a jump shooter in the half court he deserves a spot.
With the Embiid the issue is whether he is going to be strong enough, but if he is not getting pushed around his length will make it hard for Embiid also. Again he has like 8'.4'' wingspan which is insane if you think that 7'5''-7'6'' is already considered elite. He has almost a foot more than what is elite.

Regardless of how one dimensional and non-ideal Kyle Kuzma is, he's still way better than Danny Green.
It's like trying to make an argument that Bruce Bowen is better than Keith Van Horn.

If Fall is gonna be something, he'll probably need a few years to get stronger and understand NBA defense. I don't see his role at this point, then against he's an UDFA and I generally don't see much of a role for many guys like that until they show otherwise. He's interesting enough, people like tall guys and he seems like a good enough kid.

Measurements don't mean anything if the guy can't move. I don't understand how you can conjure up hypotheticals where MVP candidates like Giannis and Embiid would struggle with this guy. He's BBQ chicken for them.
And all of this is predicated on Brad Stevens even having the gall to put him on the court.
In addition to having zero agility or mobility, he's one of the most skill-less basketball players currently on an NBA roster with stone hands.
43.2% free throw shooter
21.9% turnover percentage

Yea it is not a given that he gets there, playing defense is not just about how long \tall you are but his physical profile should give him a chance to prove what what he can do imo.
Of course if he doesnt improve offensively and he is a liability in pnr his ceiling is being a deep bench knda guy. Defensively however if he has reasonable defensive IQ and some experience i can see him having value in certain matchups like the ones i mentioned. Not in the sense of locking people up but possibly making their life harder. As i said he is relatively agile for a 7'6" 300+ pounds guy, him trying to guard Giannis is like Giannis trying to guard a sg sized player while being able to give him 10 ft of space because he cant shoot. Again it is not a given but if i were a contender i would give him a chance to prove himself as the last player on the roster and see how it goes.

Long term, I see us matching up very well with the Nets. Once Ben neutralizes KD and Josh Rich makes it hard for Kyrie on offense, it’s gonna be a walk in the park.

The Nets are kinda scary, to me. All they need is an A game from one of Dinwiddie, Prince or LeVert (all capable) to go along with what Durant and Irving provide and they can beat anyone on a given night.
And the Nets are right there with the Clippers in terms of closing out a close game in a playoff series.

Jeremy Lin being out of the NBA feels weird. Am I misremembering or was this guy pretty decent for Atlanta last year?

Crazy, Nets could be better than Celtics?
After the horrible trade, you would think the rebuild would take longer.

Boston will still be there this year, but I see them gradually getting squeezed out of the conversation and it solely being a Sixers/Nets discussion in the Atlantic.

How could anyone think Tacko fall can become a decent player? seriously, if you are a big man and can't shoot dem 3pt shots you are useless, one should feel bad about being born as a defensive big man, it needs to be an offensive big man or a wing, if you are not part of the modahn NBA then go home!
Horrible takes since 2016

Can you imagine the reaction from Stephen A. if someone signs Joe Johnson over Melo?
