I'm a Jazz fan and a Mitchell fan, but I voted for Mike Conley. Conley is a consistent winner and a proven leader, and he just received an all NBA award for Teammate of the Year. Conley is generally in the top ten for PGs on RPM and Wins. Mitchell is an engaging, telegenic, rising star with a million dollar smile, great PR skills and athleticism, but I don't think he is quite ready to pass up Mike Conley for overall positive impact, efficiency and good decision making.

Donovan Mitchell will be in MVP contention.

Conley and Bogdanovic are going to allow Mitchell to improve his efficiency.

His production will be right up there with Damian Lillard and Utah will be a top 5 team.

To start with, I’ll do everyone a big favor and take Durant out of the poll since there have been so many requests for that. If people want to re-nominate him they’re welcome too though. Here are the players who have been voted in so far...

Drop the BOTTOM-VOTED players from the Next Poll to make room for "better" Candidates. If a Player is among the bottom 3, or bottom 5 vote-getters for the past three or four Polls, it probably means that they were listed TOO EARLY, and there might be other more deserving Candidates. Bring them back 3 Polls later.

LaMarcus Aldridge has not been getting votes for a few POLLS now.

Klay is gonna be out most of the season. Probably shouldnt be on this list, ALA KD

Klay will likely return in the new year so he should be able to play a decent chunk of the season.

Yeah, I’ll take a half season of Klay over a full season of Donovan Mitchell, easily.

Honestly it’s pretty hard to find nominees with any interest. I wanted to take Durant off since so many people have made mention of it, but it was really a struggle to find 2 nominees. I read through both of the last 2 threads and the only player who got more than 1 nomination in either thread was Porzingis so I just added Fox since he was the one that I would have been most likely to nominate myself of the people with one vote. I really doubt that Drummond would get more than a vote or two if he was an option.

Nicky Vuc getting no love

I'm cool with Mitchell going now. I expect him to be a more efficient player this year.

Maybe continuing this beyond the usual top 25 isn’t worthwhile.

Is that efficient? Buddy Hield fans have said that .584 TS% is an inefficient chucker.

Well there’s still interest. You’re just not gonna find extra nominees to replace more than one person when the people who are being considered for the top 25 have been nominated in already. Devin Booker’s got several nominations in this thread, but finding another nominee after that would be more popular than Aldridge who already did get nominated in just isn’t practical.

It's moderately efficient, but a step in the right direction after 2 seasons at 53.9%. Fans calling Hield inefficient are objectively wrong  Mitchell is a better defender and creator than Hield though.

Dipo and Klay might as well get the same treatment

Well Dipo’s injury isn’t as serious. He’s supposed to be back in December or January. I think he’s a top 40 player this year for sure. Durant might not play at all, especially after seeing what happened to Cousins. But also Diplo and Klay both got nominated in. If Durant does as well, then maybe he can gain new support.

I hear what you're saying, but it's hard for me to weigh that into my assessment. Does missing half the season decrease their value by half? I assume people have very different opinions on how to incorporate injury, which may produce inconsistent results. Assuming full health I rank Dipo top 15 and Klay top 25

Personally I don’t care that much about missing regular season games if the players healthy for the playoffs. I’d say if Dipo played 45 games at 100%, he’d be a good 85-90% as valuable as playing the whole season. The problem is more that he likely won’t be at 100% when he does come back. Like if he was the 15th best player pre-injury does he maybe come back somewhere in the 30-35 range on average when healthy? What’s it worth if he comes back top 15 20% of the time, Top 30 30% of the time, top 45 30% of the time, is ineffective 5% of the time, and gets re-injured and misses the playoffs 15% of the time. That’s where things start to get complicated.
