Re: FIBA World Cup
The Js missed some bunnies. Hope they heat up and make some those in the upcoming games.
Good assessment:

Not that I really ever watch any ESPN channels anyway, but I'll never turn them on again after this decision to only put these games on ESPN+.
Viewers of this game are going to be a fraction of who watched the exhibition games.

It's no wonder the top players don't even care enough to play on the team. The NBA clearly doesn't care enough to market it or make it available to the majority of basketball fans, so why should players care?Green89 wrote:It's absurd that no major network is airing it live or even showing the replay.

Yea when you add the money players are getting in the NBA and risking their careers to play there and the fact FIBA WC is less important than NBA title, it's hard to think many top players will play for the USA b-ball team.

France 78-74 Germany
Poirier : 9 minutes, 9 points (3/4), 4 rebounds.
Good game for Vincent, but most importantly is that he made all of his FTs (3/3) and grab 3 off rebounds.

Don't worry. By December, their collective slogan will be "Just wait till we get KD back next season!". Looking forward to the DNP-load management on March 3rd.

I wonder how many players currently on the team, knew ahead of time that the only US broadcast would be on a streaming service that probably only .008% of US residents have subscribed to?

They talk so much **** about our young guys who happened to lead our team further in the playoffs than the Nets have gotten in 16 seasons. I understand why they are mad. That would piss me off

Speaking of which - the main target of their vitriol - Jaylen Brown - was, according to Anna Horford, tied with Marcus Smart for being the nicest Celtic she had met. "Super dope guy!". She was drunk last night and had an impromptu Q&A on Twitter.
I will take Anna's word over any Nets fan's word who claims he has sources. Pretty clear who Anna's source is.

Right, but that Nets fan claims to have a source within the Horford circle.
He can't be full of ****, can he? No chance. This is a shocking turn of events

He’s full of ****. He claims an NESN advertising representative gives him the goods. And the many agents he’s met in Boston.
Spoiler: NESN is owned by the Fenway Sports Group and couldnt be more disconnected from the goings on with the Celtics. Agents arent based out of Boston and sure as **** arent going to spill inside info to a schmuck who bought them a drink.
Flat out full of ****.

I have given the majority of the teams in the league significant advertising dollars in the past for a few clients and have talked with those "NESN" types. Prok is a much bigger simpleton than I thought, which is borderline impossible because well, you know

It’s messed up. Screw ESPN and ESPN plus. I rarely watch ESPN and I will watch them even less with the shadey ass decision not to carry it on ESPN or ESPN2.

Re: FIBA World Cup
Anyone look at the scores and need a few seconds, or minutes, to figure out what team CIV is?
No Tacko, no Senegal. Anyone brainwashed by ESPN into thinking Sabonis can't play power forward, a team with him and Jonas Valanciunas together dominates. If Team USA turns up to the game with Harrison Barnes as a smallball center, might be some trouble for Team USA. That potential game is a few games away.
Theis, if you go on one game he is overpaid and Perrier is underpaid.
Theis does not have it easy, while Perrier just has to hold the fort when Rudy Gobert has a rest. In other FIBA games, when Perrier played more, he showed he can do more.
They had a combined 12 rebounds in 20 minutes in this game.
Clicked on CIV, but remembered what country that is before the answer loaded.
They are not going to win the tournament.
Team USA, they are not good. Czechs were equal early. Next two quarters, Czechs were often a play or two away from "get it under 10 points", and then fell apart in the last quarter.
Walker was efficient, but wasn't really noticed. When he stood out was when he was defending the paint, and Satoransky looked like Karl Malone when next to Walker near the basket.
Tatum, got the start, and not at power forward. His outside shots were at important points in the game. Had a nice block. If there was more passing, and maybe he led them in assists in a practice game, he would be more efficient. The team is a bit ugly and looks like the iso plays of the recent Celtics team.
J Brown, he did see a giant hole and drove to the basket. Next time down the court, tried to dribble and it looked like he had never tried that before.
Smart, he was defending, and probably flopping. An ugly 3 attempt.
Middleton and Harris finally found their role, be quiet and just stand in the corner and hit the open 3. Lots of bad coaching still, it is hockey and they play three lines and make a change every 3 minutes.
Imagine losing to Ilyasova. Leave him open for 3, allow him offensive rebounds. Losing to Osman, the Cavs' LeBron replacement. Melih Mahmutoglu, have not heard of him before.
The Turkey - Team USA game should be the closest game for USA in the first round.
Phillippines finished third in one of these tournaments. Had no idea. It was not recent.
