Great win for Poland. It's definitely true that Poland was a bit fortunate in the draw (mainly because the organizers were trying to help the host, China) but hey, you can only beat who's in front of you and Poland has done that. The win against Russia is a quality win. You've earned your place in the quarters :D

Yes. Back2back. I was with players in Berlin and Istanbul.

I won the "points" competition one year... I just received an official basketball, a watch and a shirt
Can you promise you are never going to take De Colo in your Fanatsy teams from now on? :D

\You guys are great, thats a massive accomplishment. I played that fantasy few times, I was average, but man top dogs in that are good, its like they (you guys I guess) are from the future or are just lucky and knowledgeable beyond belief with the selections.

I'm just a bit above average player... I just had luck that season, and I won only a "side" competition. Bob8, On the other hand, is a real champ, winning back to back the main competition in the old format. This is the real thing. In my opinion he probably understands basketball stats much better than 90% of the people you call "scouts".

Such a great game with many amazing plays (especially Ponitka's pass while he was failing out of bounds at the end of the 4th):

Spain beat them only +10. Puerto Rico beat Tunisia and Iran. So actually Puerto Rico is better than: Ivory Coast, South Korea, Tunisia, Iran, Angola, Philippines, Japan, Jordan, Senegal in this world cup for sure and maybe some other teams too.

Why lot of you still underestimate Serbia...

Could Ponitka play in the NBA? I know he just signed with Zenit. I'm guessing he doesn't have an NBA out in his contract?

Good to see Poland and Czech Republic making a comeback. It would be great for European basketball if they joined the upper echelon of teams. Poland beat my team Croatia in a key qualifying game, and everybody in our country thought it was embarassing, but Poland on their home court is not an easy task for anyone.

His scoring abilities are way below NBA level for a guard. I guess he could play a role similar to Tony Allen, but it's a long shot. There's a reason why he was invited only once to summer league and it was by Nuggets (their international scout is from Poland). I wish him all the best, but he has to became better shooter, to have a chance from NBA teams.

Spain in '08 and '12 were much better than this current Serbian team. As was Argentina in '04, Yugoslavia in '02. Could make an argument for Lithuania too. Serbia looks like the best team in this tournament, Jokic is great, but I think they are not the most talented team and their performance thus far is a little overrated. Will see how things go when the competition intensifies.

as much as i love manu and a lot of those other teams i dont think they are better. i see something special in this team. time will tell.

The 2008 and 2012 Spain teams were absolutely better than the current Serbia, both in depth but also top level talent. On top of that, they played so well together.

absolutely not.

THE J0KER wrote:Comparing the Spanish golden generation at their peak, and current Serbian is still clearly in Spanish favor, but only individually. If we look at 6 best Spanish players back in time, Gasol Brothers, Ibaka, Navarro, Calderon, and Rubio, there is 3 centers and 3 point guards. Current 6 best Serbian players are PG Teodosic, SG Bogdanovic, SF Kalinic, PF Bjelica, and centers Jokic and Marjanovic.

Also, individual qualities are not enough for comparing two teams. In that 2011 EURO Joakim Noah the only time played for France, and he comes there as double-double starting center of the team with the best record in NBA (Bulls'11), and Parker was big NBA star, while Batum and Diaw are established and respected NBA starters. But Spain not once, but twice, routinely beat that France superteam, better balanced per positions than Spaniards. So they obviously have some chemistry issues.

Rubio was never one of Spain's 6 best players. Calderon is also debatable.

Do you actually think players at that level would even make a EuroLeague roster? You can't seriously be counting players of that level as prospects / talents? Because no such players would be considered that anywhere in Europe.

Wut?

NBA > Euroleague.

Plenty Australians have played euro league over the years.

Landale who I mentioned there at the back end of that list is with Zalgiris this year in the Euroleague.

If anything, the big improver is actually the Australian domestic league, the NBL is catching up very quickly to the European domestic leagues with their partnership with the NBA and strength of the Australian young players.

LOL this Mirotic12 dude is on another planet. That entire list have played in the NBA at some point or are still in the NBA now and have more NBA rings than just about every player in the Euroleague combined.

Not to mention there are another 17 Australians playing in Europe that didn't even get a look in... in camp.

We have some Australians accusing Europeans of downgrading Australian basketball unfairly - the reality is you are greatly downgrading EuroLeague for no reason.

White has been an outright scrub in Europe. He spent 90% of his career playing in the German 2nd division. To claim he is better than EuroLeague players is straight up absurd. He isn't even good enough to make a EuroLeague rotation.

He's about as big a nobody as you could possibly be in Europe.

Still not fast enough. I wonder when the guys from above will realize that referees can use controls to rewind, zoom or whatever themselves, instead of talking to 3rd guy

I don't like this kind of "stats". I believe that is garbage, misleading and incorrect. Same as when media compares averages of a player in the NBA after 20 games to some other player's stats of the whole season, and say that it hasn't been achieved in 20 years. That is stupid

40 pts diff after 4 games, even against some week opponents, is still quite an achievement
