Your brother is one of the richest men in the country. You already won the lottery so what the **** are you even in a casino for?

The only ones we should feel for in this incident is the old lady and her family so I agree with you on that.

However, to your second point, how do you know Kawhi had a relationship with this sister, what does him being rich have to do with her? How does his NBA and endorsement earnings put money in her pocket? Reports indicate they robbed the lady for $800 - $1200 so clearly, though I do not want to assume because NO ONE on this board knows the extent of her relationship; he wasn't giving her a sister allowance.

She looks like she's going to run the penitentiary.

Don't assume that this women is receiving support from Kawhi. Some family members can be so toxic that celebs with money can't keep them in their life. Kawhi's sister sounds like a troubled individual and it seems realistic that she and Kawhi may have had a falling out. I don't assume either way, just speculate.

Also keep in mind that we don't know how the old lady's skull was cracked. She could have had her head bashed into a wall, or she could have slipped and hit her head on the floor or counter as she struggled with the robbers.

I agree with you. It’s not a stretch to think she may have been cut off by the family because of possible addiction issues. We won’t know unless the family speaks openly about this. Regardless, many families have to cut off loved ones because if they don’t, they are merely enabling the addictive and abusive behavior of the addict by not letting the addict hit rock bottom and seek professional addiction support. In some very unfortunate cases, the rock bottom is deadly. The addict either dies from an overdose or ends up in prison long term for murder or other repeated offenses. Again, I’m not suggesting this particular case fits to a tee, we may never know, but it’s also not as cut and dry about finances as some posters are claiming.

worst example ive ever heard in my entire life. 30 bucks an hour is NOTHING. your coworker may have a nicer apartment, wear a nicer shirt and even have a better phone plan than someone who makes 15 bucks an hour minimum wage but its still a paycheque to paycheque survival lifestyle. its when you have an opportunity to reject everyday 150$ for something that doesnt even take 5 minutes of your time because of your own values and beliefs without feeling on the scale of 1 to 10, more than 3 out of 10 of regret, thats when you can consider yourself a middle class. id consider stealing a lunch too at that wage (if I had no integrity or values ). Even without integrity, no middle-class person would ever steal a 6$ lunch.

I think you just came up with the worst example ever... although, it is hard to say since most of that comment is incomprehensible.

I've read that part over 5 times now and it makes less and less sense every time

You made two independent statements. Very few people are close to their entire family, they love them as family but that's different than being in their close group. Kawhi put that group first. We have no idea how close she was to Kawhi or if she was estranged. Plus wishing ill on someone is just bad karma.

Where did I wish ill on them? I said that this is a shameful act for the family, is it not?

maybe for the sister. not for the family.

This is all over the news of course it brings shame to the family.

Even if the sister has been cut off from the family, it still reflects upon them in some way, through their upbringing and mentality. Robbing and physically assaulting the elderly is the lowest of the low, you can't just look the other way and and pretend that this has no bearing on the family reputation.

This could be a cultural thing. Some cultures feel that way, that what any member of the family does impacts the entire family. So if you have a family of doctors and one family member is a repeat violent offender then the whole family looks bad. Other cultures feel that if an entire family grows up right and one kid rebels and does their thing it is no reflection at all. There was an LA police chief and his son beat up an elderly Sikh. The chief's other kids were just fine (lawyers). Some would say the chief is shamed. Others would say he did a great job and you can't win them all. If this is a cultural POV thing then it's not worth discussing.

Not sure if you were drunk writing this. Are you trying to say that stealing does not have any correlation with the amount of money someone earns because we live in a society (Canada) that provides a basic safety net for most necessities (i.e. food and water) ?

WE obviously don't know details of the Leonard family history. But, if I was making >$20M a year, I'm sure I could spare some cash to help out my sister or half-sister even if she had mental/drug problems. Maybe it would prevent the need for her to steal a purse from an elderly woman resulting in a death.

For those whining about the conditions they grew up in, grow up! That's nothing compared to what other people have had to deal with. Its just an excuse for them to get more sympathy.

There's no excuse for robbing anybody, means you're pure trash simple as that.

Well that's a different subject entirely. Should one person uplift their family if they're making money. Yeah, I'm not touching that one except to say that if you throw money down a bottomless pit the only thing that happens is you lose your money. It's a good way to go broke. Like you said we don't know family history so it's all speculation.

Also you're 100% right, people have had worse childhoods and made it so it's a poor excuse. We might never know her backstory though to figure out what was going on.

Well said, i grew up in a country in war, had to live with friends and family perishing due to that, class mates kidnapped, threats kidnapping as a child etc etc and what that do? make me stronger, work harder, study harder, and give no excuse for my childhood ever.
Can proudly say i am happy with result of leading a multi million (high millions lol) practice today in Canada .
I think north american society gives too many breaks for peoples criminal behavior , not saying wrongs people receive are to be forgiven, but a wrong is never a justification of another wrong.

I actually think that Kawhi is doing way too much for his family but that's his prerogative. There are a lot of filthy rich folks that have decided not give their offspring any inheritance and I see their rationale for that. They want their kids to make their way through life as they have, it teaches a good lesson that there are no handouts unless you're a socialist but that's an entirely different conversation.

In any case there's no excuse for resorting to crime and hurting other people, just means that you're a POS selfish loser.
