Is Serbia really much better than Argentina? Argentina has had a pretty impressive tournament, blowing out Poland.

Jalen Brown has done a good job of playing with a bit more discipline and making the simple play.

The Aussie team would love for Simmons to play. He chose not to.
The Aussie team invited Maker to play, he chose not to.
Exum is hurt.
Bolden was invited to the team, he left for a personal matter to attend to.
Adel was cut so that Xavier Cook (who is biracial) could be on the roster -- but Cook tore his meniscus

Simmons and Exum, ok. But you're telling me that Maker, who played in 3rd rate random Tourneys for OZ (he played in that game where there was a brawl with Philippines), all of a sudden he's not gonna play in the WC? Not buying it. and I heard the staff didn't like Bolden and Adel is superior to some of the pasty white dudes that made the squad, but again, they're white, so that's priority #1 for Australia. Oh, and what about Nathan Jawai? Oh never mind, he's really dark, no chance at all for him to make the squad. You're country is really racist man, own it. :nonono:

Strike and given some time out.

-Zimpy27

Nate Jawai is 140 kilos and can't guard NBL centers who play outside the paint. The guy would be destroyed at FIBA level.

Jesus. If you are going to accuse the team of being racist you need to use a better example of "not playing Nate Jawai"

Also Bolden withdrew. Also for someone who's accusing a team of racism you are fanning it pretty hard saying pasty white dudes. Either put a proper argument why or shut the hell up. Your not pointing out discrimination your trying to incite ****.

Team USA has been leading the tournament in shot attempts per game with an average of 74. That's 15 more attempts than France and 16 more than Serbia. They also average more 3-pt attempts, with 13 more 3-pt attempts than France, and almost 10 more attempts than Serbia. USA’s shooting percentages haven’t been great, but they make up the difference and more with volume.

The team that’s closest to USA in pace of play and shot attempts is Argentina, who may be getting a bit underrated here.

Team USA’s shot quality has been steadily improving, and today they shot 52% from the field vs. Brazil, including 64% on 2-pt attempts. They’re starting to get Myles Turner more involved on rolls to the rim.

The key to beating USA is slowing the game down and trying to limit their shot attempts, but that’s hard to do if USA has better athletes and multiple guys who can create off the dribble.

Pops has been steadily improving the team's shot composition and shot quality as the tournament has progressed.

Australia is a racist country but not in regard to selecting sporting teams or in in this instance as has been said. They wanted Simmons to play obviously and were playing Bolden; I can see why he thinks he should have been starting in this company but his fit particularly with the aforementioned Patty Mills is a legitimate consideration . I think Exum is recovering from injury and may not have been available. particularly since his serious injury history started in a game for Australia. Thon Maker isn’t very good and I am not sure if he was available.

“Gobert is a good defensive player, I’m a good defensive player, so it’s going to be a good game,” Turner said, via Joe Vardon of The Athletic. “He’s the defensive player of the year, according to some.”

found this off twitter. you know, turner has been getting better as the tourney goes on, i'm excited to see how he fares vs Gobert. Maybe he'll make a statement.

As a black man, I find this overzealous, far-fetched, desperate search for proof of racism particularly annoying.

The dude complaining is the type who would implement some kind of quota rule where China and Argentina have to have at least 2 black players on the floor at all times, while Senegal needs at least 2 white guys on the court, just so that everyone feels better.

That said, Australia at full strength is pretty damn deep.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

Definite upset possibility. They are 5-0. I want to see the Serbia/USA game tho, so while I'll always have a soft spot for Argentina, I'll be rooting for Serbia.

To win the World Cup

USA the rank 1 by FIBA will need to beat
France rank 3
Serbia rank 4
Spain rank 2

(Obvs if those teams win as well) (Hopefully Australia has something to say about that)

Hahaha probably not with our respective homer goggles on. Good luck against the US I think France have every chance of beating them.

Damn, even tmw's game is only on ESPN+. Thought for sure they'd start broadcasting these on a real channel once we got to the elimination rounds, but nope. Still kind of shocked by that.

Argentina has had an extremely easy schedule, thus far. I love their style of play, but am afraid that their numbers might be a little exaggerated. We will see tomorrow.
