He was so damn good, this sucks significantly.

It drives me crazy when people try to talk down to people who get upset over deaths of celebrities/athletes/etc that you don't personally know. We grow up listening to and watching these people, when Mike Gorman dies i am going to be devastated.

Also, something that might surprise people. I think when it comes to athleticism, agility, physical attributes and skill I rate LeBron only in the top 50.

Even though you never met. He is your story teller of one of your favorite things basketball. You’ve spent hundreds of hours with him or more. You know the little jokes he says when he calls a game. The ins and outs of his personality.

Damn.

He was one of the best in the business. Such great rapport with Austin Carr...who I imagine must be devastated.

How could fans ever forget?

"The bottom!"

"Right down Euclid!"

"Hotter than a blowtorch!"

"He picked his pocket!"

Rest in peace, hope he didn't suffer.

I didn't like the Cavs broadcasting team at first, at least when LeBron was there, mostly because of AC, but every time I watched a game when LeBron left, they were both very critical of their team when they needed to be but also were knowledgeable and complimentary to the other team as well. As long as commentators have that mix, they can be as big of a homer as they want. Big loss for the Cavs.

Growing up I didn't understand it myself. Since then a few of them have hit me really hard. The two celebrity deaths that hurt the most were Steve Jobs and Prince. Both hit me like losing family members and still do.

This was the first thing I saw when I got to work today and hit pretty hard....absolutely my favorite PBP guy in the league and definitely shed a few tears today. He was working with the Pistons when I first became a fan and even after he moved to Cleveland, I've always loved his style, energy, and love for the game. He and Greg Kelser back in his Pistons days and then he and AC in Cleveland were just always a blast to listen to, he always has such great chemistry with his partner. Absolutely sad....it definitely won't be the same listening to Cavs broadcasts this year.

Sucks, I just remember him tweet how excited he was for the arena renovations like 2-3 days ago...

I recall him with the Pistons. I appreciated his enthusiasm - it always sounded like he was having fun, which I like in an announcer. RIP.

Remember when Chick Hearn died in 02, also during the Summer. The outreach by fans of all colors/age/stripe was huge. It's a sad thing when you've listened to a voice describe one of your favorite pastimes for decades. You feel like you know them. RIP and condolences to Cav and Piston fans.

Sad news. Don’t watch many Cavs games, but remember his voice.

Got to meet Fred once after a game years ago. He and Carr were awesome. They spent five minutes of their time after an away game shooting the sh*t with a Cavs fan and it was an awesome experience for someone like myself who had spent the entire first LeBron era listening to these guys call games.

Just a great dude who truly loved Cleveland and the Cavs.
