What 2019 looks like for all 32 NFL teams

Image

Prediction: 9-7

This is a make or break season for Dan Quinn and the Falcons. They have not been the same since the Super Bowl collapse. Coming off a 7-9 mark, they need to improve in a big way. Injuries ravaged the Dirty Birds in 2018. Expect to see positive steps, whether they can get to double digits in the victory column will be quite the test.

Matt Ryan: Falcons have 'a great chance' to return to Super Bowl

Ryan maintains the same confident approach heading into every season. Going into 2019, however, he seems to have more swagger than usual regarding his team’s ability to contend for a title.

"We’ve got a great coaching staff. We’ve got a combination of guys that are going to try and put the players that we have in the best position to be successful."

Ryan didn’t forecast leading the league in scoring, although he knows the offense is more than capable of being explosive with Julio Jones, Devonta Freeman and the rest of the crew. He didn’t promise the defense would be a top-10 unit or the team would avoid the injury bug, as those are factors far beyond his control. But Ryan knows it’s comforting watching guys such as Freeman, Keanu Neal and Ricardo Allen making their way back from season-ending injuries.

Ryan certainly feels at ease with Dirk Koetter back as his offensive coordinator. Ryan also fully understands competing for a title starts with taking care of business in the division.

"It’s always tough," Ryan said of the division. "Drew [Brees] is always tough. New Orleans has a great offense. They play really good defense. Cam Jordan is one of the best players in the league on the defensive side of the ball."

The schedule won’t make things any easier for the Falcons. Six of their first nine opponents are playoff teams from a year ago, and four of their first six games are on the road.

"The schedule is what it is," Ryan said. "They’re going to give it to you, and it’s your job to approach it and deal with it. Other than basically two games, it’s slated who you’re going to play depending on division."

I didn't expect the results today even as a 4 point underdog. I expected a win.
The team looked poorly coached and it better improve week 2 or else it's going to be a very long season.
The late TD to Julio Jones only made the game look better to the fans that didn't watch it.

Yeah, Dan, nothing to like at all, unless you like how some of the young talent played. The entire game was a nightmare and failure from the kickoff.

We must give him the looks and passes that he deserves. Matt Ryan can't just look at Julio.

This season Matt better be able to scan the field and utilize all of his options. Including the TE!

I'm still shocked about our performance against the Colts..lol
Playing from behind won't cut it and when we make the come back we fail to proceed forward.

We host Tenn this Sunday. Must win game!

With a 20-yard gain on his first catch against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones became the 36th player in NFL history with at least 11,000 receiving yards -- and he reached the milestone in fewer games than any of the other players. https://www.al.com/sports/2019/09/julio-jones-hits-another-nfl-milestone-in-record-time.html
