Re: ATL: Dog Days of Summer
I had a post that disappeared into the ether, so I'll try to re-explore the smoking crater of my mind. Durant's most detrimental attributes are his thin skin and online brain. Wonder how many users on realgm dot com fit that description.
<raises hand>
Anyway, I don't have to resort to mental contortions to imagine having your jersey get acquainted with Mssrs Smith and Weston would do a number on your mind. On the real, Durant is more relatable than noted basketball psychopath/Hitler mustache haver/gigantic denim fetishist Michael Jeffrey Jordan. Too bad KD doesn't have David Falk to help smooth his off-court image.

Ok dude, then just quit, retire, whatever you want to call it. Dead serious. If he's this **** miserable (he's not), then maybe he just needs to hang em up. He's made plenty of money, got his precious jewelry, and is coming off an injury that ends a lot of guys' careers. Of course, he won't though, because he's an insufferable narcissist who constantly says one thing and then does the complete opposite, so the irony of him calling out anyone as "fake" is pretty incredible. Just sick of hearing this dude constantly whine about all this crap that is 100% self-inflicted.
He doesn't realize that he is (a big part of) the circus of the NBA. He lacks self awareness, as has become abundantly evident the past three years.
KD: I hate the circus of the NBA.
Fans: Don't worry, we now hate you too.

KD is such a narcissist. This guy lacks any form of self awareness. Hope he decides to get help one day.

We're two days out from the ban on "ninja-style headwear" and still no Nowak dissertation on how Silver is ruining the league.
Disappoint.

I get where KD is coming from. Its genuine. But he also has a propensity for trying to be controversial which leads him to make headline quotes versus substantive ones.

That's the thing - if he says "It really hurt me a lot, when I left OKC, to come back and be booed by the fans and ignored by the organization. I gave this city a lot and I didn't feel like it was appreciated. I'm still not sure that I'm over it, even four years later. I'm hoping that, with time, the fans of Oklahoma City and the Thunder could make me not feel hurt every time I come back." then he accomplishes the same message and actually creates a discussion about the feelings of basketball players. But instead, he resorts to saying he doesn't trust the organization and never wants to come back to the community, and resorts to tribalism with his best bud Kyrie, who's a pretty wack cat himself.

Re: ATL: Dog Days of Summer
KD played in OKC for 8 years. If, as a fan, you feel you own the players, man: you gotta take a step back. I get being disappointed, upset -- I'd be crushed if Giannis left. But I appreciate what he's done for the team I watch religiously and I appreciate that he's earned the right to decide where he wants to play according to the terms for which his union bargained.
If you take it personally when a player leaves in FA, that's not the player's issue.
If a player takes it personally when there's a viral video of someone shooting up his jersey, that's *also not the player's issue*.
My thing with Durant over the past few years is he's been so averse to talking about FA all the time and then he signs a contract with an out after 1 year every summer. So what are people going to talk about? He also talks about how he only wants to talk about ball. Welp, this ain't it, chief.

I agree its not the player's issue. But the player is creating an issue when he says things like "well I was going to come back to you guys eventually after I went and won a ring somewhere else, but now I don't want to."
He's creating more vitriol, and he's done it before. That is the player's issue. He can't get out of his own way, then he proclaims innocence, tries to act enlightened on the world of sports, and makes more headlines.
As an aside, no one should be shooting up anyone's jersey, (hopefully) obviously.

If he doesn't want people talking about it, then he shouldn't talk about it, but the position itself is totally understandable. Also, the only reason it would create more vitriol is that there are so many dysfunctional people who can't reflect on their own actions and recognize how dysfunctional they are, so they double down instead. As an aside, not necessarily a defense of Durant, but "cupcake" has to be the lamest insult in the history of insults, right up there next to "snowflake". Like, are all OKC fans 5-year olds?

Frank Brickowski knows who the real narcissist is.
Go on.
Yeah! Stick to caught-in-my-feels rhapsodizing over pillowy Benetton beats, maple leaf. It's showgame!
Fricking decorum. The hell are they teaching in grammar school nowadays?
Brickowski said the Warriors should slap Drake in the face during Game 3.
Go on.
Said Brickowski: “You’re not part of the show. Shut the (expletive) up and sit down. You’re a musician. Stick to music. You know, he’s just trying to gain attention for himself and exposure and it’s inappropriate. Shut up and sit down.”

Brickowski said the NBA should take issue with Drake’s sideshow act.
“It’s part of the show unfortunately nowadays, I guess he’s paying $10,000 for his seat so he gets the right to talk smack. But I don’t think it’s appropriate... going up and rubbing the coach’s shoulders? Are you fricking kidding me?”

I'm not addressing shooting up a jersey. As I said, no one should be doing it and it's insane.
Essentially taking the stance of 'we weren't winning here, so I went somewhere else to win (a superteam, at that) but uh I always wanted to come back' is not - well, I won't say it's not defensible, because he's not doing anything illegal and to each his own - but taking issue with that approach as a fan doesn't ergo mean you are dysfunctional and can't reflect on your own actions. You're really jumping to some hearty conclusions.
I for one would never boo someone who has left when they come back to their old arena. Not my style. I don't think I've ever boo'ed ever. From the perspective of it being understandable that he would now not want to go back, yes, I agree. But the fact he seems perplexed by it can't understand why people would react the way they did is in and of itself perplexing. The guy is just a moron.

Bucks should sign Frank Brickowski to a 10 day contract when we play the Raptors just so he can smack the **** out of Drake.

He’s about 100 pages deep into a Lord of the Rings sized opus on KD’s latest comments. A Silver screed will come later.

I honestly don't think anyone on here actually takes anything KD does personally. This is a forum, an NBA forum, where we talk and discuss NBA players. Comments like this always make me roll my eyes.
