Gobert is their backbone for sure.
Mitchell is probably their best player but that doesn't take anything away from Gobert and his defensive prowess and how importatnt it is to the team overall.
without Gobert, Jazz a non playoff team imho and Mitchell would be stated as overrated (even more so to some)

I don't think Mitchell should be relied on as the best. He was in the playoffs last year and tanked harder than I've seen any number 1 option tank. It would be better for the Jazz and Mitchell if he was the 2nd or 3rd option and not relied upon so heavily.

He’s going to be their leading scorer.

He also brings some intangible skills as well. His leadership skills really shouldn't be questioned at this point. He showed up as a rookie and the entire team got behind him. He showed up to Team USA and Pop made him a team captain and even the players said they got behind him.
He plays really solid defense, and you never have to worry about his motivation.

Gobert is their best player for now, but Mitchell is far and away their second best player. Ingles is nowhere near those two or Conley. I don't care what he's doing in a league that isn't as talented as the NBA.

Kind of reminds me of DeRozen on the Raptors. #1 scoring option, but wasn't the best or most important player, that was always Lowry. For Utah, that's Gobert.
I've got a sneaky feeling to get over the hump and win a title, Jazz will have to land a star via moving Mitchell. Until then, they will always be a western finals contender.
So many parallels to the the 2019 Raptors though

With development and age related regression I think it's likely that Mitchell will be better than him this upcoming season. The Jazz are going to need Mitchell to breakout into a top 15 player like Gobert to make a finals run.
What’s the argument then for Mitchell rookie year playing 79 games and Gobert playing 56 and the Jazz won 48 games? Gobert played 81 games this past season and the win total increased by two. Ingles played the same amount of games both seasons and Rubio played 9 fewer this season over last.
IMO think the value of Mitchell is being overlooked some here don’t think they are a playoff team without him. They could be a very low seed without Gobert

Check how many of the 48 wins were in the 56 Gobert played.
38/56 wins with Gobert - winning % 68%
10/26 wins without Gobert - winning % 38%

How did they only get two wins better during a full season then? What happen this season for them or is that just the limit of that version of the team?

Damn it, this is the 2nd time in 3 days I mixed then up. Then Mitchell is 2nd most important player on the Jazz. Should be easily better than current Conley.

Because Rubio regressed and didn't shoot as well. We also had fewer offensive creators this year. + we had bad luck in close games(the net rating was closer to a 55 win team than 50 win team). But overall yes - this was about the limit of this iteration of the team and it was the reason why the Jazz made some radical changes in the off-season. Now the starting lineup actually makes sense around Mitchell and Gobert. Before we were starting 3 non-shooters and Mitchell was the only player who could create offense for this team. Now we added Conley and Bogdanovic to help with that and with spacing the floor around the best rim-rolling big in the league.

Lol. These thread ideas are getting out of control.
No, Mitchell is 1st or at very least, 2nd best. Conley is a complimentary piece, as is Bogdanovic. Those players were brought to Utah to play a role next to Mitchell, not to be better players than him.

Rudy is better against 25 teams, the fact he can be played off the floor by some of the top teams is a fatal flaw in calling him your best player IMO. I'd take Mitchell as the best player from a title aspirations perspective.
