I've always thought Post Malone took his name from Karl Malone. I also think he can't pull off face tattoos, and he has them, bad look.

In a year in which we have the following albums:

Freddie Gibbs - Bandana
Tyler the Creator - Igor
Quelle Chris - Guns
Little Simz - Grey Area
Anderson Paak - Ventura
Billy Woods - Hiding Places
Malibu Ken - Malibu Ken
Denzel Curry - ZUU
Little Brother - May the Lord Watch
Rapsody - Eve
And literally probably a hundred more albums, Post Malone isn’t anywhere **** near the AOTY let alone the hip-hop AOTY.

Thanks you gave me a music list to go through. Started with Anderson Paak and Ventura is nice, looking forward to the rest.

I literally don't have an argument. I dont care either way. just find it amusing u have to be so hyperbolic to downplay someone. Whether its sports or music or whatever in life, u always have someone trying to tear you down. U killin that role sir

Lmao you don’t even know me.

Not sure how I downplayed anyone here except Post Malone. His music simply isn’t that good and is incredibly overrated.

Not really sure what you’re rambling on about

Thankfully a lot of people don’t share your garbage opinion.

Albums pure art and he’s one of the better artists out today that I can stand to listen to.

Pure art

He’s 100% radio music. Which is absolutely fine but is a slap in the face to true artists who actually make creative and innovative music.

No problem man. They are ranked in that post from my most to least favourite but they are all terrific

Rapsody is very Lauryn Hill sounding - like her album. Some are a little different for me like Malibu Ken and Billy Woods but your first 5 are all nice.

If you appreciate lyricism, Ras Kass, Soul on Ice 2 was just released and is definitely worth a full listen.. I may be biased because the original Soul on Ice from 1996 is top 3 all time hip hop album in my books. For a sample I’d recommend starting with silver anniversary, shark week, gingivitis, ghosted. There are some pretty big features (considering his relative unknown status) but I find the features are usually outshined by Ras and end up prefering the solo tracks.

Track Listing
01 Silver Anniversary (prod. Twiz the Beat Pro)
02 Grammy Speech (prod. Diamond D)
03 Midnight Sun (feat CeeLo Green) (prod. The Olympicks)
04 F.L.Y. (prod. DJ Green Lantern)
05 Street Superstar (prod. JUSTICE League)
06 White Power (feat Immortal Technique)
07 Shark Week
08 Wxt Thv Shxts (prod. JUSTICE League)
09 The Long Way (feat Everlast)
10 Guns N Roses (feat Styles P (LOX) and Lil Fame (MOP))
11 LL Cool J (feat Snoop Dogg)
12 Trapped Music
13 Gingivitis feat. Jamo Gang (ElGant, J57, Ras Kass)
14 Can U Feel It (prod. Pete Rock)
15 Opioid Crisis
16 Ghosted

I dont know how to explain it

It's like his songs are over...saturated

His vocals sound echoey and autotuned, there is always a background ethereal sound/wind noise playing until a short verse drops and it goes silent for a little, he's got his own backup vocals after every other line almost

Sure it's catchy and ya the lyrics in the hooks and verse can stick with you or you can belt them along

And the concepts behind the song have a clear idea or image which is good,

But my ears/brain get a bit tired of the overproduction after a chunk of songs

Yeah Aesop Rock (Malibu Ken) and Billy Woods are definitely the most abstract of the bunch. Personally I got such a weird love for Billy Woods. His “Known Unknowns” album was so good imo and there are times where his flow and lyrics are just filthy. Try listening to Fall Back by him or Crocodile Tears. If you don’t like those then he’s definitely just not for you

I'm so old that I literally dont recognize any of those albums

I'll just to back under my hole and continue bumping the Chronic 2001, Marshall Mathers LP, some classic NWA and some soca/chutney for when I don't feel like raging :D

To be fair most people who are 18 years old don’t know this albums.

If you are a fan of older hip-hop though I recommend Freddie Gibbs “Bandana” for sure.

I have had my share of disagreements with YogurtProducer, but on this point, I agree 100%.. As a pure 80s-90s Hip-Hop/R&B/House head with a very large vinyl collection that has taken a lifetime to curate, I agree the Freddie Gibbs and Madlib's "Bandana" is significant piece of work. I have also enjoyed both of Anderson Paak's efforts on "Oxnard" and "Ventura". The Little Brother album was nice, but it is no "Listening" or "Minstrel Show," maybe my expectations were too high for their return... Haven't had a chance to really listen to the Rapsody album, but I have heard good things. Not a huge Tyler the Creator fan and everyone else is off my radar cause frankly, I'm just old with other responsibilities that I can't stay up on everything.

Have you also heard Piñata?

Avantdale Bowling Club and the two solo Black Thought projects are 3 other albums from the last year or so I think old heads could really get behind

The new Tyler is superb. It’s pushing into more experimental territory so it isn’t really for everyone, but it’s a huge improvement over his old crap
