When he was with Dallas he slept in the locker room. While the league was negotiating a new deal with the players union he was working at Home Depot.

Hasheem Thabeet getting a workout with the Knicks and a second one with Milwaukee. I doubt anything has changed since he was drafted other than "hope" to be paid again. That's what a lot of these players are thirsty for but they don't care once they're under contract.

_________

Hasheem Thabeet will play in 5-on-5 scrimmages again with the Knicks next week and is also scheduled to work out for a second time with Milwaukee the following week.

Thabeet is looking to earn an invite to training camp on an Exhibit 10 deal. He has a better chance in Milwaukee than New York. The former No. 2 overall pick in the 2009 draft has averaged 2.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks in 10.5 minutes per game throughout his career.

Spencer Dinwiddie to convert his NBA contract into a secured digital investment. Here’s what that means

Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie is planning to turn his contract into a digital investment vehicle and receive an upfront lump payment, The Athletic has learned, an unprecedented move for an NBA player.

Dinwiddie, according to multiple sources, is starting his own company to securitize his NBA contract in the form of a digital token as he begins a three-year, $34.36 million extension with the Nets.

In a securitization, the borrower gives up some future income in return for a smaller lump sum payment. But the borrower, in this case Dinwiddie, then has more money to immediately invest than he otherwise would. According to sources, this Dinwiddie bond would pay investors principal back and interest, which would be covered by what the Nets owe him.

Analysts of the NBA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement believe this could potentially shift the league landscape by changing how players make option decisions and assess risk. This will also impact the way players think about contracts and risk.

I'll GO OUT on a LIMB and STATE THAT I BELIEVE Toronto and Atlanta are two dark horse candidates to acquire Giannis between now and 2021 as well:

Bucks going all in with Middleton caps them as an ECF team imo. I do feel Atl is a darkhorse destination, contingent on gathering the maximum amount of assets or making just building the team the way they are.

Collins would probably have to be involved in a trade. Collins and Giannis would be my frontcourt while I'd ask the former to gain 15 pounds for the 5 spot.

I like this for Ayton if Phoenix decides to do it. He supposedly has 3 point range from what I have read and multiple videos I have seen from this summer.

General manager James Jones said the Suns could play Deandre Ayton at power forward if needed.

Yikes. Jones said Frank Kaminsky, Dario Saric and Cheick Diallo could also play some four. Ayton should see an uptick in output with Ricky Rubio running some more screen-and-roll plays, and Ayton is also expected to expand his range. He'll be coming off the board in the third round in just about all competitive drafts and he should be worth that price tag.

Certainly a playing time problem, but I really thought he would go to MIL, at least he would have got 3's as they need at least one more shooter.

True, but sometimes choices get limited when you have mental issues as it has long been rumored. With no one to look out fir his best interest only sponge off him, he's left fluttering in the wind.

This is what I'm thinking as well. Swapping Collins for Giannis is a definite upgrade for us. They'll likely ask for Huerter and copious draft picks as well.

Milwaukee only considers it if Giannis states next summer he won't sign their SUPERmax extension offer.

But having Trae, D Hunter and Giannis in the same starting 5 would be worth it.

Oh, no doubt. It's part of why I get so concerned with drafting kids and teenagers. D West was roughly 20 years old when he became a millionaire. Not a ton of people at that age are mature/responsible enough to deal with the sudden money, fame, distractions, temptations, expectations that come with being a pro athlete.

And the fact that this happens so frequently (perhaps not this degree) is alarming.

And that most of these young men are African American (like myself) is not lost on me either.

The stories of Sebastan Telfair, Delonte West, Leon Smith, Korleone Young, Glen Rice Jr, Joe Smith, Antoine Walker are cautionary tales every young NBA player should hear...repeatedly.

Brandon Ingram Is the NBA’s Most Intriguing Rookie Extension Candidate

The former no. 2 overall pick has loads of talent but plenty of questions heading into his first season in New Orleans. Should the Pelicans lock him up with a new deal or wait for him to prove himself next to Zion Williamson?

Image

Extending a player’s rookie contract is one of the biggest gambles an NBA team can make. Given how young many players are when they are drafted, it’s often hard to come to firm conclusions after only three seasons in the league. As such, the risks and potential rewards are high. The Timberwolves gave Andrew Wiggins a max contract extension based on potential and are now saddled with one of the worst deals in the NBA. The Hornets rolled the dice on Kemba Walker before he was a proven commodity and wound up with an incredible bargain.

Even if Ingram returns at 100 percent, it’s unclear exactly what the Pelicans have in him. Ingram still has plenty of upside; he just turned 22 and checks most of the boxes that NBA teams look for in a star wing:

Freakish length
Playmaking ability
Defensive versatility

There is no one in the NBA quite like Ingram. The best way to think of Ingram is as a supersize DeMar DeRozan with more defensive ability...the best version of Ingram still comes when he can dominate the ball in lineups with enough 3-point shooting to spread the floor for him.

If he can stay healthy, Ingram is too talented to be forever stuck in a complementary role. The Pelicans have enough other options that they don’t have to commit to him. But if they won’t, someone else should.
