I don't mind him in a back up role, but I have the sinking feeling he'll be starting at the 3.

Meh. Big meh.
Maybe we’ve secretly invented a time machine. Only way this roster makes sense.

A good example and mentor to our young guys who might light it up once in a while off the bench. At least it's not Carmelo.

Re: Pistons sign Johnson, release Beasley
Hopefully he can be one more guy who can score (not just spot up) for us and give Blake a little relief. Rose, too.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

More excited about releasing Be Easy than signing Iso Joe.

Re: Pistons sign Johnson, release Beasley
For those not old enough to know, the Pistons passed on Johnson in the 2001 draft (he went 10th) to draft the great Rodney White at 9 who was out of the league in a few years. They are SO So So bad a drafting..
I would not get too excited about Joe at age 38, he appeared in 55 games with Utah and Houston in 2017-18, averaging 6.8 points and shooting only 27.6 percent from 3-point range.

LeBron, Bosh, and Wade better look out. The East isn’t a cake walk anymore!

For those even older, the Pistons turned down a trade from the Celtics to move up one pick in the draft because the Celtics wanted the Pistons to include Jerome Williams in that trade.
The Celtics ended up taking Paul Pierce with that pick. I think the Pistons took Bonzi Wells and trades him to Portland for nothing.

I don’t know if it’s because it’s 3 on 3 or because it’s half court but even Joes Big3 highlights aren’t impressive.

i wonder if he was injured or something because he only played 55 games. the season before he shot 41% from 3 on respectable volume. he's never been a sharpshooter but his entire career he's been in the 36-38% range with some outliers where he shot around 30% and that one crazy year in phoenix where he shot 48%. my hope is he's been really working on his shot in hopes of an nba comeback.
honestly though i don't think either johnson or beasley are plus players but at least johnson is higher IQ and has playoff eperience. i can only imagine how slow he is on defense though...

Re: Pistons sign Johnson, release Beasley
Happy we released Beasley and kept Wood.
Adding Iso Joe
Who knows what he'll do based on last season?
I do like the balance of the roster though. Got a fair few vets with something to prove (Reggie, Rose, Kieff, Joe) plus a few kids looking to step up (Luke, Brown)
9-man rotation:
Reggie 26, Rose 22
Luke 28, Brown 20
Snell 28, Joe 10, Brown 8
Blake 30, Kieff 10, Joe 8
Dre 33, Kieff 15
Looks more balanced with better spacing

Re: Pistons sign Johnson, release Beasley
here's the structure of the deal:
essentially it's a two month experiment and they lock in the rest of the contract early january if the experiment goes well. since we're over the luxury tax i'm sure their decision will largely be based on how well the team is playing. also gives joe a chance to catch on with a contender if our season goes south.

Hey! No Jerome Williams hate allowed around here!
Figure this deal means Wood is gone...or a deal is around the corner.
I'd honestly rather play Thon at back Center than Markieff Morris. Our backup big man situation needs WORK.
Wasn't Kenneth Faried decent for Houston last season? Surprised he's not signed. He's a stretch 5 now...pull the trigger, Gores.

Wow. Two threads on Joe Johnson yet nothing about DRose's preference of socks. I am disappoint.
