Or why don't you just STFU and be grateful we bothered to send players over at all?

The fact US and Canadian players are not begging to go earn millions for FIBA over in China says more about the value and prestige of your tourney than it does about their "braveness", "patriotism", "loyalty", or whatever BS you care to associate with participating in your inconsequential little tourney.

Hit a sore point did I?? For all your country's patriotism, you'd think players would love representing the USA. It's not brave to play basketball at a World Cup, but it does show patriotism and pride. Brave is serving your country either in the Forces or emergency services.

It's so inconsequential that your on this board defending your country's poor showing and making excuses. When you get called out on it, all of a sudden no one cares

Don't send anyone, I couldn't care less. One less team to beat and one less group of fans making excuses

Also, the US A-team can lose. Remember 2004? Ouch.

The US is brilliant at basketball, but not unbeatable. And I’m not sure if any of the defenders or apologists have realised this, but the rest of the world is closing the gap. No team at FIBAWC had the individual talent that the US showed up with, but other teams have been playing better basketball.

The 2004 team was not close to USA's A-Team. Most top stars did not play. The following guys did not play:

Shaq
Kobe
KG
Kidd
McGrady
Ray Allen
Pierce
Webber (injury)
Vince Carter

Australia has been great, agreed, but I don't see them beating France again in this tournament. Yes they did win the first game they played against each other, but it took a lights out shooting performance from the whole Australian team. That most likely will not happen again. France is for me the big favorite to win the championship.

France is no guarantee to get past Argentina.

Besides... you could say the same thing about Fournier and De Colo who in the last game against Australian also shot lights out... 31 and 26 points. Are they going to shoot that well again? They are going to need to because Gobert struggled and only had 8 last game against Australia.

Australia have the bigs to disrupt Gobert which only Serbia and Lithuania can match. Against Lithuania Gobert also struggled again and only had 9 points and needed Fournier (24) and Decolo (21) to shoot lights out to beat Lithuania by 3.

It's one thing for Gobert to beat up on the US, Dominican Republic and Jordan who play nothing but midgets... but we will see tonight if Fournier and DeColo can bail France out again

another thing that might not happen again is delly wont get into foul trouble meaning he wont have to spend the game not allowed to touch anyone

he would be able to defend fournier up the ass

Kawhi, KD, and Bron have to be the 3 least likely closer options for the US team. You have a guy with a seemingly permanent leg condition that won’t allow him to play a full season, a guy who’s likely to miss the entire season with an injury, and a multiple gold medal winner who’s about to be 35 years old. Be a little more realistic.

Dame Lillard would be an excellent closer. He’s been healthy and he’s never played in the Olympics before. Steph’s a little more of a long shot with his ankle issues, but he might try to win an Olympic gold too if the Warriors have an early playoff exit. Jimmy Butler has a gold from 2016, but could maybe be persuaded to come back if he was going to be the star of the team instead of a reserve this time around.

Find some Bigmen Allstars for that team as well,so that Gobert won't be guarded by Harrison Barnes again.

Most good C's are not American, mot great on D, old or too young

AD is the best choice ofc, but he may want to mostly play the 4 and some time at the 5

Bam?
Turner again (he was pretty bad)?
Deandre Ayton possibly if he gets better on D
Jarrett Allen?

Somewhat realistic/hopefulish lineup:

Lillard, Harden, Tatum, AD, Turner
Fox, Mitchell, Brown, Kuzma, Draymond
Smart, Plumlee (or someone else who won't play meaningful min)

Oladipo(if hes basically back to normal) would be cool, but I don't know if he pushes body this early
Need a better defensive guard/wing option than Harden or Tatum, but who even knows if Harden plays

Ayton isn't American, he's from the Bahamas.

Surely it would be quite easy for him to become an American citizen though. Hakeem played for the USA team, can't see why Ayton couldn't if he really wanted to.
Why so serious?

Ah....

He can still play for America if he wanted to, but who knows

On the bright side, Draymond said he wants to play in 2020.

Good for some size at the 4 or small ball 5

You could counter that with France getting 26 points from turnovers or 37 points from the bench, that most likely will not happen again.

Put some money on France winning it all. Now the wait begins.

All in all, its been great two weeks, happy we had active and intelligent debate, 157 pages already proofs that basketball is global sport. We had other thread were I was very disappointed of how many people voted that nobody cares about FIBA WC, its definitely not true, I took 2 weeks off work just to watch and live this world cup, but office where I work actually got a projector and streamed games right on the wall, people care and we are just few days until new world champion.

De Colo starts on the bench and Australia generally does a lot of turnovers. So it will likely happen again. But good new for Australia in case of final Fra/Aus is that ut tempo game may happen again
LA 2028 (Starters):

Spain cant buy a bucket. They would be stoked to only be 6 points down right now. We've dominated a lot more then what the scoreboard says,
