Avatars are a pain in the ass now. I've went to imgbb, imgur, imageshack. They all give 4 or so links. Not a single one of them has worked for avatars here when I tried applying them. None. They work for posting photos in threads, but not avatars

Right click on an image. It will copy the url to your clipboard.

In this example:


If you right click + copy image location, then paste it, you will get:

You need to look for the file extension in the url. It needs to end as a *.jpeg, *.jpg, *.png, etc.

If you do look at shareable options. Then you can retrieve the link from here:


You have to fetch the url and discard the tags.

If it helps anybody who had a specific avatar they wanted to keep, these are some steps I gave over on the Bucks board (the best little board! ) that should hopefully help you out.

I noticed a few people have the TinyPic error/goodbye message turning up as their avatar. I had that issue, the files are gone from TinyPic but if you want to grab the exact file you can do it by;
1. going to your profile on realgm, then "edit avatar" and under there the URL it had been hosted at should be in "Link off-site" (if you try to go directly to that link you'll just get the same error message)
2. go to the Wayback Machine at https://archive.org/web/ and paste that URL for your image in there under "browse history" to see if it has any hits for the file (it hopefully will, I could fine mine so the archive was trawling either realgm or tinypic)
3. save that archive version and upload somewhere else (I popped mine on https://imgur.com/ ) then just update the URL for your avatar

It took a while for me to figure it out but your method worked! Thanks, it takes a village!

If there are no websites capable of conforming to RealGM's requirements, I would suggest that RealGM create its own avatar server. That way, people could upload their images without having to resort to other image servers, which are better suited for sharing images than just as avatar server anyway.

(Currently, RealGM does not allow the uploading of avatars if you go to Edit Profile)

Any tinypic avatars after the cut off date should have users board banned from all but one new forum.

Those who post on the new forum compete to win over the vote of the non-tiny pics. The winners regain access to all other forums. The losers continue the fight.
