I forgot about Portis. I haven’t seen him in Besart’s rotation schematic

That easy when you have kawi leonard and paul george on your team , rather then relying heavy on gallo and lou williams to be your 2 star players.

He's talking about last season, and his whole career in general.

Given in 2021 we would only have Iggy, Mitch, RJ, Knox, and maybe a few draft picks under contract (Randle is partially guaranteed I believe), what would be our theoretical cap space in 2021 with and without Randle given the 125m dollar cap?

If we waive Randle, those two will take up 11 mil of the cap that offseason

That's like, enough to where we'd still have enough to keep one of DSJ or Frank's cap hold while still having the space for 2 maxes

As it stands right now, we'd have to renounce both to make room for a double max. There any good PGs available in 21?

Of course, that idiot. I didn't forget I just think I had temporary amnesia because it blows having that number on the cap.

We are as flexible as it gets the next few years. We can clear space for 2 max cats whenever we want. Obviously...things can change by the trade deadline so...nothing is guaranteed.

This season should be about developing the kids. See who is worth keeping going forward. DSJ/Frank/Trier/Dot all need to play because...next year decisions need to be made concerning these guys. Perry went a bit overboard with Elf/Ellington/Bullock/Morris deals. What is the team motive? Play the new guys over the kids for wins? That would be a disaster IMO.

Camp starts in 4 days!!!

Knicks as a team and organization have to show improvement and can't have another tanking season of 17 wins that's why there veteran players. If the knicks didn't sign the veterans and have the same win total as last season everybody will be fired. I like these veterans players better then fake hustle veteran players we had last season burke, mario, kanter, lance, john jenkins, ron baker, injured kp, and tim hardaway junior.

I agree, but I don't think it will be that straightforward. There is going to be a lot of win chasing.

Also, NBA training camp doesn't start in 4 days.

I'm not saying I don't like these vets but...they shouldn't be a priority. Perry has yet to balance the roster. That bothers me. We have had logjams everywhere. The guard situation is a mess this year. Not enough minutes to develop players that we have to decide what to do with next year. Unless the vets don't play much.

I don't see this season being like last year in terms of vets potentially taking minutes from young guys. Almost the entire team is young guys. Portis, Randle, and Payton are all younger than Dotson. I would only classify Gibson, Morris, and Ellington as vets. The only vet that I can see taking minutes away from a youngster is Morris. He is clearly better than Knox right now, so it'll be interesting to see how the team deals with that. Bullock won't even be ready to play right away and Gibson seems like a classic vet signing. Ellington I guess could see time but that position is RJ's.

I find it hard to believe that we won't trot out DSJ, RJ, Randle, and Mitch as starters. I think having Morris in there as a vet isn't the worst thing in the world as long as Knox gets reps. We saw last year Fizdale doesn't have any hesitation playing him big minutes.
