I listened to Ian Begley on a podcast yesterday and I think the Knicks are indeed done with Frank. He made it seem that way. They tried to definitely trade him on draft night and even lowered their expectations on their return and couldn’t move him. He doesn’t think this FIBA play will have a factor at all.

They won 17 games with Frank playing 43 of them and averaging 21 minutes. Frank played plenty and would have played more not for injury.

It doesn’t matter since frank played plenty anyway. But I’ll entertain you on the cavs who won 19 he would have played less.

I don't know how you could have watched the games last year and honestly say Frank was given plenty of minutes and chances, but if that's what you believe, that's what you believe

And even if you're right, should we really be modeling our player development after the Cavs?

It really isn't difficult to figure out, but Fizdale thinks he's coaching an NFL roster, with all-offense lineups, and when the opponent goes on a long run he then puts in an all-defense lineup.

Could it be it's possible Perry doesn't believe in Frank OR DSJr as starting PGs?

I'm starting to wonder.

I mean, with Frank, it's obvious. There should be zero debate. Just wondering if this FO/Perry isn't exactly confident in DSJr.

At the very least, bringing in Payton was a hedge. Which is smart. I'd rather have a FO kind of looking ahead.

Or, it's simply they don't like Frank (established) and went with a young vet PG they like, instead of an older guy. Plus he has familiarity with Randle, if that factored in.

I'd like to see Frank get a shot, but on the other hand, signing Payton wasn't exactly an unsound idea.

Also, Perry DID NOT guarantee him minutes. He said he would compete with DSJ for the starting job. That does not sound like any kind of guarantee to me. Also, i don't see his presence as Perry not trusting DSJ. Someone has to play 2nd string.

It's not exactly a vote of confidence for DSJr that a PG the FO just signed is being given a shot at starting.

Hey, competition is good, but another way to look at it is, they just told DSJr "Yeah, we're not convinced you should start".

Did they tell Randle he's fighting for a starting job?

fiz said the same thing last year and knox was gifted minutes. you don't draft rj at 3 and then give him 10 minutes a game to play behind the likes of wayne ellington, bullock or dotson even if he's outplayed in training camp. and if you do you should be fired.

the truth is there's barely any good back court combinations because most of our guards can't shoot. let's see who improves enough to change that.
