Hahn sounding like a parrot. Last year Hahn couldn't stop praising Fiz "identity" especially for the youth playing hard and being competitive in a lot of the games, even though there was a lot of losing

That IS the identity, dummy.

Now just upgrade the talent, from outside and from within. They didn't get their top goals on the outside end and it's to be determined how the inside works out, but ultimately the team needs top end talent.

Might as well Fire fiz now, this team isn't not likely to win more than 30 games. The talent just isn't there.

There's no Giannis, no Ben Simmons, Mitch aint Joel, there's no Jayson Tatum's or Jaylen Browns on these Knicks.

Let the youngins play. End of story. We are rebuilding. Embrace.

Youth playing hard is not an identity. Being competitive is just a result... also not an identity.

There are different ways to win. By outshooting the other team (GS & Hou). By winning the differentials (TOs & Rebs) + tough defense (Utah & SA). Playing elite defense and then trusting your best player to score/create at a higher percentage offense than the opponent (Por, Mil & Tor). Playing elite defense and fast (OKC).

Bottom line: Every style requires good defense to be played. Now, will Fiz emphasize winning the rebound battle? Will he emphasize winning the TO battle? Does he want to play fast? Does he want the ball to run through any one player every time down the floor? Does he want extensive ball movement? Does he want to emphasize 3 point shots? Pick and roll?

The answers to these questions dictates who gets playing time and how we evaluate the team. We're all confused on who Fizdale is because he contradicted everything he said last year. He played guys who weren't defenders, guys who took consistently bad shots, etc.

Identity is about style. It makes the game easier for everyone. Otherwise, we'll have 5 guys with no coordinated effort improvising play after play. Improvisation is obviously required to an extend. However, you need structure to ensure that everyone is swimming in the same direction and on the same page. Without a style, it's impossible to be consistent.

I tuned Hahn out a while ago. He'll make an occasional decent point, but he's cashing a checks as an MSG media shill. That's fine. Good for him. I don't have to listen to it.
