Fortunately, this doesn't really seem that problematic. The season doesn't start for 6 more weeks so he might not miss any games. Furthermore, since it's a hand injury, it shouldn't keep him from staying in shape and participating in much of training camp.

Nate, how long have you been a fan? An injury to a Wiz player always means you extend the amount of maximum weeks by at least two.

Not anymore.

Ever since the overhaul of the medical team under Leonsis, the estimates have been consistently pessimistic, not optimistic

Damn, this sucks for IT. Hopefully he gets that fully healed, not like he has to rush back to make a playoff push or something.

The silver lining of this is we’ll get a good look at Justin Robinson. Chris Miller said the team recently had an offseason mini-camp and were very impressed by how Robinson was performing.

He was a seasoned floor general at Va Tech, and despite being small he has the ability to shoot quickly off the dribble. If that translates he could become one of those overlooked steals ala Van Fleet, Monte Morris, Jalen Brunson etc.

So the Wiz will be going with game one Ish.

Ish won't set the world on fire, but I like that he plays like a traditional PG - handles well, will penetrate and look to dish, and make smart decisions.

From everything I've heard, the plan was to start Ish whether or not Isaiah was healthy. They want to restrict Isaiah's minutes, and presumably want him on the court when Beal isn't.

I hope that Brown sees extensive PT at PG.

It doesn't really matter. This team is going to be bad. It would have been nice to have a healthy IT coming off the bench and providing scoring to start the season. That's pretty much going to be his role most likely the rest of his career, assuming he can stay healthy.

The only problem is that we also need him to play extensive PT at SF.

I think that this is a big injury. Sure he can stay conditioned but his game will be rusty. Unlike others, I think that IT had a chance to get some of his shine back and there is no way that Robinson or Ish would have put him on the bench

I doubt it will happen, but I hope Chris Chiozza gets a shot. He’s not at all flashy, but he makes the players around him better.

I just hope they don't have to amputate.

&, if they do amputate, I hope they don't try to save the thumb & throw the rest of him away!

It sucks and I hope Thomas is okay. Beyond that, this really was relatively predictable. Thomas has played in 12 and 32 games in the last two seasons. The odds of him getting hurt are extremely high at this point whether it's now or later in the season. I've always been a bit curious what pushes teams to sign vets like this who are obviously starting to see their bodies break down but it's not really a burden on the Wiz and I'm okay with Thomas getting another, albeit small contract. Hopefully he manages to recover and stay healthy for the rest of the season.

It's true, as guys age their thumbs start to go.

& it's not just athletes, btw. I mean... how often do you see an old guy on the road hitchhiking? Am I right?
