I'm learning my lesson though. Living in Brooklyn, I eat **** every day so I know what I'm talking about.
But yea, now I see why we get laughed at. Only we can use the size of our city to inflate our egos and support such a **** team with such arrogance. I'm walking on eggshells and using the humble approach, I don't know how we can't after this disastrous summer.
And then have the gall to lie to our faces about their plans....didn't want Kyrie and Durant anyway.....

And the idiots who fall for it and are now towing the company line. "We are rebuilding"....yeah, would have been nice if KP and Barrett were a part of it together, but..wait...what did they want to do, again? Tired of this non-sense.
They got away with using NYC as an excuse, being the only team in town..."nobody wants the pressure of playing in the the Greatest City in The World, I tell ya!!...they're all pussies!!!!" I've said this myself.
No bud, it's the Knicks. This was their end, this season is going to wake these cocky suits at the Garden up and make them realize they aren't **** until they miraculously build something from the ground up, because nobody, NOBODY, is going to go to the Knicks now to end their curse against Durant and Kyrie looking from across the bridge.
Great post. Most Knicks fans are stuck on the "we'll always be the team in New York!" and a misplaced sense of loyalty to a franchise that has been terrible for so long. Knicks fans would be better off accepting reality, rather than keep clinging on to that stuff.
It's not misplaced loyalty, it's just loyalty. You root for a team and that's it. Root for yours, we root for ours.
The Knicks have a solid young core and are committed to building through the draft for the first time in years. All we need now is patience. And I disagreed with their free agency plan from the get-go. The Knicks were bad for 2 decades because of incompetence and complacency, there's no denying that. Now they are bad because they are rebuilding. It's crazy how people don't see this nuance, and I think it would be unfair to paint this entire process with the same brush to push a pro-Nets or anti-Knicks agenda.
The Knicks are a franchise that committed to building through the draft and developing young players because they were humbled in free agency.
Definitely after trading an extremely unique and talented prospect that could develop into a superstar in this league for cap space and manipulating their best player before opting to give him an extension. KP would’ve been the first Knick in over 20 years to have signed a RFA max extension with the team. So, the Knicks once again opted to deal him instead of matching any offers for him and figuring it out later like most franchises because they were incredibly confident at the #1 pick and two max slots by also dealing a grumpy young player...which was caused by their own organizational choices (Phil Jackson).
Now, we’re at talking about the #3 pick and a shot at KD and Kyrie. That formula which the Knicks were aiming for thus likely not being aggressive to acquire another lottery pick or being creative to take on bad contracts for picks like Memphis in the draft this summer was due to the overconfidence of them expecting to build a quick contender around Barrett, KD, etc. I even recall the idea that if KD signed with the Knicks and missed the entire year, the Knicks young guys could grow and be more seasoned for his return.
The entire idea of a true rebuild began when they put out the statement telling fans about striking out and being committed to rebuilding. It was released hours after KD made his IG post. So, while it is true they are heading in a good direction. Let’s be realistic about why they forced themselves to take that approach.
The difference between both franchises is that the Nets purposely sucked for 20 wins regardless of picks to Boston was to literally strip down the franchise. Everyone in the front office, medical staff, coaching staff, PA announcer, etc all replaced to fit a specific identity and everyone knows what their objectives are ultimately. That is how a culture is forged and doing it while losing creates that character.
The Knicks I personally don’t think took all of those measures to ensure a brand culture is being forged. It already seems like a losing season from Fizdale could get him fired which could be very understandable but that once again goes against the realistic habits to build the kind of identity they are looking for.
Kenny Atkinson for example is a hometown guy, he used to watch the ABA Nets as a kid and clearly he’s a very good development coach with a mind that’s very modern day.
Fizdale is a tough and good coach in his own right but he doesn’t have the tools to have staying power and quite frankly, he doesn’t connect with fans aside from those who are probably on RealGM or something.
The Knicks need to actually buy into up and coming guys who are from the tri-state area that can instill a fun style of offense and someone that you can believe has some legitimate staying power in this league.
Watching the Grizzlies under Taylor Jenkins even just in Summer League can show you what a young upcoming coach that can truly get guys to buy in can do for a franchise that’s trying to build a new culture.
I just didn’t see a distinct style of play from the Knicks under Fizdale. I saw some interesting talent like Robinson, Knox, Dodson, Trier play well at times in transition or one on one situations but there’s no distinct style of offense I see from them and I’m not trying to be bias either.
That all ties into building the right way and it also aids the lazy habits in a rebuild. Every Net fan here knows how much I HATED how soft Brook Lopez was as a Net throughout his career in the post and I begged for him to become a shooter one day and plenty of arguments I can recount started based off the idea of a guy like Brook Lopez being too soft inside and being lazy by shooting outside.
Jason Kidd was the first coach to attempt develop a 3 point shooting culture with Lopez shooting threes. He broke his foot that season. Never happened.
Lionel Hollins comes in and wants to make this Grizzlies 2.0 and employs mid range, PNR and post shots. We couldn’t get value for him even back then despite a terrific season offensively and a 2015 playoff run.
Kenny Atkinson comes in and tells him shoot 200 threes a day this summer and he comes out shooting threes and despite a terrible season. We found value for him for D’Angelo.
Brook now has become a starting stretch five on a 60 win contender. All because of one coach out of 8 who didn’t know how to develop a 10 year vet to a modern era. Kenny increases his value and D’angelo gets us KD in sign and trade. That’s why it’s important to do the cleaning of the house.
