Clips Acquire Paul George for SGA, Gallo, 5 First-Rounders and 2 Pick Swaps

The work these guys are putting in right now, especially PB, shows they have an unbelievable focus.

There are few stars in the NBA that will take on the challenge of defending the opponent's top player for large parts of the game. We now have two of them. Last year, the Clippers were horrible at holding teams below 105 pts. Holding a team to 105 pts or less regularly is a huge deal when you look at the top teams. This year, we may lead the league in holding teams below 100.

I can't think of a team that can in recent years that has so many great individual defenders. Having this many great defenders allows us to keep Lou on the court more. Heck Milos could actually play on the court with these guys and not kill us. Being able to have Kawhi or PG on the court at all times is such a benefit.

We will never have to be subjected to a playoff game where 3 of the 5 players are defense optional. How great would DeAndre have been if he had the chance to play alongside Kawhi and PG?

Honestly, Doc needs to zip it up and stop the self promotion (e.g. "I told Steve"). Doc, you had your shot as the GM and you failed. We don't need the Clippers internal deliberations and discussions out in the public space.

That is obviously a skit because Karl Anthony Charmin isn't slapping anyone. When the guy had Harden on him in the 2018 playoffs in the paint regularly and didn't dominate him, he showed his extreme softness.

I agree, but if Doc doesn't toot his own horn, he knows nobody else will.

Doc's gonna claim his share of the credit for this after all the abuse he's taken. It was he who restructured the org after Sterling's malpractice and it was he who coached a team of castoffs into something worth Kawhi joining. Kawhi turned down a title-winner in Toronto and the best player of his generation with the Lakers to join us instead, and it doesn't happen without Doc.

Would be great if George and the Clippers embrace Lancaster too, the entire Antelope Valley, to piggy-back on Palmdale.

There's also a great opportunity to embrace the entire Inland Empire with Kawhi (not just Moreno Valley). It would be a stretch, but it would be cool to see the Clippers make an effort to bring San Diego into the fold. We share a history, obviously, but there's also a unique connection between Kawhi and San Diego/Cal State Uni-SD. I say lets invite em to the party.

Doc Rivers, Lawrence Frank offer insight into Clippers’ mindset with team considered a title contender

Frank signaled that George, who underwent surgery on both shoulders this offseason, has “made great progress.”

“He’s worked his tail off, he’s been terrific,” said Frank, noting recent online highlights of George in action but declining to offer a timetable for the six-time All-Star’s return. “We’ve got great performance, health and wellness staff, and we’ve kind of put it in their hands.”

This was also reported by either Wojnarowksi, Windhorst or Lowe (I forget whom exactly) previously shortly after the trade was made. OKC's owner was basically fed up with Westbrook's curmudgeonly behavior and handling of the media, especially since that got the Thunder no closer to championship contention along with his expensive contract.

If Kawhi hadn't forced our hand with the ultimatum, the Clippers likely would have gotten George at a less expensive cost, but of course, acquiring Kawhi was the primary objective and he's had trust issues with at least one of his previous organizations: the San Antonio Spurs.
