Ruined? He's the potential #1 pick at 18, just three years removed from his brother being the #2 pick, and the father has been both of their trainers since birth.
There's no way you can downplay Lavar Ball's importance in their basketball success.

Lavar took him out of school and put him in a dog **** Lithuanian league where Lamelo proceeded to chuck up shots and show poor decision making. I don’t think the NCAA route is the way to go but Lavar could have Lamelo in a better position.

Good for LaMelo. Would love to see him battle his bro on the court.

Vision + Offense = LaMelo vs Vision + Defense = Zo

Would be fun to watch

A 6'7-6'8 PG with good handles, passing, and 3-point shooting doesn't come around very often. Not sure about his defense and decision making though.

I bet you can figure that out on your own with just a little bit of deductive reasoning gleamed from the title of the thread.

Let's see. You already know one of them sucks. You know from the title that LaMelo might be #1 in the NBA draft next year. So, do you really need help figuring out which one is LaMelo and which one is LeAngelo?

and good for LaMelo I’m rooting for him

LiAngelo is not a basketball player. He should’ve taken up Shannon Sharpe’s offer to train him to become a tight end in the NFL.

Rico Gathers was drafted and played TE in the NFL after playing 4 years of college basketball at Baylor with zero football experience. NFL teams will give you a chance if you have the raw physical tools.

LiAngelo could’ve played in the NFL if he stopped trying to force his way into basketball.

Exactly LiAngelo always looked like he had more of a NFL build

We don't know how much farther they'd get with a better trainer. Obviously being a top 2 pick is a big achivement, but that doesn't mean these guys are living up to their potential.

I remember a couple months ago some folks were killing someone for saying Melo could be a lottery pick on this board following his Drew League domination

I never understood it. If you followed the kid you could clearly see the talent and physical tools and how he developed.

The development he went through in the last year is incredible. Went from a child to a man basically

I thought lavar was going to ruin the kid, glad he’s making progress. If he follows lonzo’s lead (ie not letting dad influence career trajectory), he is poised for some really solid potential. Hopefully he produces, would be fun to see another sibling rivalry.

That's my take as well. He's more confident than Lonzo, but with that comes some questionable decision making. Lamelo has lacked discipline and structure, so hopefully he ends up with a good coach who's willing to develop him. If he ended up on the Spurs, he could be an absolute gem. I think the worst thing for him is going to a team like Charlotte and them allowing him to chuck away.

I am not really following this family much. The only thing I can hope for the kid is that he is surrounded by solid people keeping him out of trouble and focused. Away from home , in a foreign country with a lot of freedom from parents, be easy for him to get excited and make poor decisions like most young males tend to do unsupervised away. Australia is one of the best destinations ever with the geography and people. Good Luck young guy keeping focus.

They got paid to be professionals rather than playing for free. How is that a bad thing?
