like i said, pretty $%$# deal for him

Do we know that this is true? Can't the Magic just renounce his rights instead of offering him a contract next summer?
According to the CBA's definition of a "required tender" (Article 1.1), the "required tender" has to include language that gives the player until at least the first day of the next season (2019-2020) to accept. I didn't see anything that restricts when that "required tender" contract actually needs to begin.
So, its possible that the Magic's "required tender" included a "sign by" date that gives Okeke the safety net to not sign the "required tender" right now, knowing he could sign it anytime from now to next summer to guarantee the contract.
As far as I can tell, the Magic can not withdraw their "required tender" without Okeke approving it. Article X, section F:
A Team may at any time withdraw a Required Tender it has made to a player, provided that the player agrees in writing to the withdrawal. In the event that a Required Tender is withdrawn, the player shall thereupon become a Rookie Free Agent.

Unless he totally screws it up, he seems like the frontrunner for that spot. But its possible that the Magic keep both 14th/15th roster spots open to stay flexible with their remaining Luxury Tax space for the midseason trade and buy/out market.
I wonder if Isaiah Briscoe is healthy yet? He might also be in their plans either for camp or when he's healthy.

Thanks for the reply. This is why I like to direct factual questions at you. I know I will usually get a detailed, well-sourced response.
In any event, your explanation seems to imply that we don't know how guaranteed Okeke's money is because the expiration date for his tender hasn't been publicly reported (as far as I know). I wonder how much faith he is putting in WeHam's word or even wink+nod.

I am only 80% on board. If the Magic get to the pre-season and either Carter-Williams or Fultz is clearly not 100%, Law has a real chance to make the opening night roster.
Is there any chance that both Jeffries and Law make the team? I say no. I guess it is possible, but carrying two undrafted youngsters would be quite odd for a probable playoff roster.

If the Magic opt to roll into the season with 15 players and two of them are UDFA's, presumably one or both kids will have a much later guarantee date somewhere in January.
That way the Magic have time to get out from their contracts if they need to sign a veteran without having to eat much dead money.

I kinda like Law and Jeffries over Iwundu and Frazier. IDK. Both seem to have better potential offensively.

Its a very weird situation.
I find it odd for a player rehabbing an ACL to gamble it all with no legal safety net. He and his agent (CAA) would have to be very confident that WeHam will keep their end of the deal.
NBA front offices regularly test the boundaries of the CBA, so I wouldn't be surprised if this is the case. But given the frequent off-the-books negotiations that seem to be routine in the NBA, its just as likely that its just an illegal handshake deal.

Frazier maybe, but no way on Iwundu. He's proven to be a quality NBA defender. Law and Jeffries are very unproven.

I don't think both make the roster...Jeffries body looked NBA ready, and he looked better than Law to me - at least in Summer League.
I'd much prefer it if the Magic left a roster spot open and saved most of the remaining tax space to be able to add a player later in the season.

I totally agree. My point was that it is likely, but certainly not certain Jeffries makes the team. Law makes the team instead if the Magic do not have a clear #3 PG.
Let me restate this: Orlando will have three PGs. One way or another. Law thus has a Magic path to the opening roster.
